This machine has been cleaned. Serviced, lubricated and repaired as needed including a new 2 color ribbon! This typewriter works great as seen in the YouTube video at the end of this description. The serial number is 6EL0 119500 which doesn’t show up in the typewriter database but other research shows it was made in the 1960s. This machine is in very good condition. It does have some scratches on the outside of the machine as you can see in the photos. This is a very feature packed little machine! It has power return. Tab set, release on the keyboard, touch control beneath the front of the machine, copy set to properly set the type strength and lots more! It also has a carriage lock which is located on the right side of the machine right by the carriage. It will be shipped with that lock engaged. To unlock the carriage simply bush the chrome lever back towards the carriage. This machine has Elite sized type which is 12 characters per inch. This machine comes in the original brown plastic case. The case is in very good condition with only a few slight scratches and bumps on the outside. It has 2 latches on either side of the handle to open it. Those latches are lockable however we didn’t find a key for it. This machine measures 17” x 12 1/2” x 5” The case measures 18” x 15” x 6 1/2” The typewriter is made in the U.S.A. A great machine ready for you to type on! Thank You! Here is a great Electric Typewriter by Smith Corona and is their Model Number XL 1700 and comes with it's original box and I've added in some Ribbon and a correcting cassette so that you can start typing right away. On the box it says that it can do: Full Line Correction. Word Eraser, Auto Center, Auto Return, Bold Print, Decimal Tab, Super/Sub Script, Dual Pitch and Daisywheel Printing. On the Ribbon, I had a dual pack which I opened to try the machine out so I used maybe around 1/8th of it and the other ribbon is brand new. On the Correcting Cassette, I found this one with the typewriter so it was already opened but doesn't look as if it was used very much. I found this in my Grandparents house where it was stored from at least the late 1980s. VINTAGE 1960 's OLIVETTI PRAXIS 48 ELECTRIC TYPEWRITER BY ETTORE SOTTSASS Tested
Working Olivetti PRAXIS 48 Electric Typewriter with hard case and power cord. I did some cleaning. But I did not disassemble the inner components, so there will still be some dust, residue and eraser pieces inside this typewriter. It's in good working condition. The only issues I encountered were the removal of the ground wire prong from the plug. A few(very few) scratches or blemishes on the exterior and a dry ribbon. I was able to type"The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" without any problems; I could make out the sentence, but there wasn't enough ink to leave the words visible on paper. There was also a loose spring in the case. It is pictured in the photo of the dirty Q-tips. It will remain in the case. But I cannot tell you whether it came from the typewriter. if it did, the effect of it's separation has ... morenot been revealed. Like all the old typewriters.
