It plays well and the pads feel good under the fingers. The tone is classic Mark VI. And the horn has a nice overall sound with an even scale. The lacquer is about 85% and the neck has been pulled down and repaired. It's a nice original lacquer VI for a good price. If you've been wanting to get a good playing, original lacquer VI, but you wanted to stay under $5k, this would be a very good option for you. Shipping: I will pack the horn carefully. I tried to show those scratches in the pictures. There are 2 dings that I could find. One that is on the sax itself is very small and is about an inch up and to the left of the Y in the model number. The ding is very small and I could not get it to show up in the pictures. The other ding is in the neck piece. Again. Tried to show this ding in the pictures. It comes with a used Bundy II mouthpiece. There is a small chip out of the end of the mouthpiece. It comes with a brass ligature and a black strap type ligature and brass mouthpiece cover. The sax is in a super nice Yamaha grey hard case. The pads are in great condition. This sax does not appear to have been used for very long. Please see item pictures. This is a scroll shank selmer with the letter"E" which I believe refers to the facing. No damage or repairs. It could use a cleaning. This is an AWESOME Selmer Super Balanced Action Tenor Saxophone. In my opinion. The Super Balanced Action is the best tenor Selmer ever made. To me, they just sound sweeter than the Mark VIs, but they still have the keywork that made Selmer famous. The late great John Coltrane played an SBA for some of his most influential recordings. This one is a terrific instrument. The lacquer is original, and about 90% remaining with wear from use. American engraving is gorgeous and deep. Pads are oldish but feel good and this horn should play well as is. You've always wanted to sound like'Trane, so get an SBA and head to the practice room! It all starts here. Selmer Reference 36 Tenor Saxophone VERY NICE! QuinnTheEskimo
This is an VERY NICE Selmer Reference 36 tenor saxophone. Designed to be a faithful copy of a Selmer Super Balanced Action tenor saxophone. The Reference 36 has been making quite a name for itself, and many are saying that this is the best tenor from Selmer since the early VIs. This instrument is in terrific shape. Original finish is near 100% present with practically no wear except for a lacquer flaw at the bell lip where the bell was likely slightly bent down. There are no serious dents that I can see(a tiny ding or 2 is present) and no signs that the horn has ever been seriously damaged. Pads and action are excellent-this horn is ready to play as is, and it plays GREAT with just the kind of sound and response you'd expect from a Selmer. Pics tell the rest of the story! beautiful condition selmer artist tenor saxophone with original case and factory padded case zip cover. sax is in must see condition. pictures dont do it justice. no dents and minimal use.bought new in 2006. plays excellent up and down and sounds fantastic. pads are like new. it's an advanced intermediate instrument according to dominics music in salem mass. excellent ergonomics. Gary Sugal JB101 Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece - Silver Plated - Nice!
I purchased this Gary Sugal JB101 Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece NEW in February. 2001. I bought it directly from Gary Sugal and spoke to him in the process of ordering it. I believe that this MP was a"second" as the"Gary Sugal" logo in script on the shank is not clear and distinct. Also. The JB101 model and 2-01 manufacturing date were applied with a vibrating engraver. This MP played well for me. But I was a student, so I didn't know much. It is heavy silver plating over bell metal. The finish is excellent! It comes with a standard type 2-thumbscrew ligature, also silver plated. It does not come with a cap. This is NOT a knock-off. The body of the mouthpiece has two grooves machined into it for a slide-on ligature. Much like the vintage Geoff Lawton mouthpieces(expensive! The floor slopes in a smooth curve to the chamber with an abrupt transition at the beginning of the chamber. It's hard to describe and I hope the pictures make it clear. This is an OTTO LINK Super Tone Master Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece with 6* 6-star) facing including cap and ligature. I purchased this MP back in 2001 and used it quite a bit. It became my favorite MP of the several I bought in the quest to find the"right one. I put a bite pad on it immediately. So there are no tooth scratches. It's difficult to tell it from a new one. I am the second owner of this saxophone. It was purchased brand new in February, 1997. It was meticulously cared for and had seen little use before I purchased it in July, 2002 off ebay for $1125. I am a professional saxophonist and this horn has been calibrated to perform at its optimal sound, the key configuration has been adjusted for improved action, and has had regular maintenance by PM Woodwinds in Evanston, IL: It has original lacquer with normal wear for its age. Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone This LOW RESERVE auction is for a vintage Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone. The saxophone's serial number is#M158.XXX which dates its manufacture at approximately 1968. It was just put into playing condition. Received some new pads, and has a great tone and even response throughout the horn. It was relacquered at some point(previous owner said it was in the 1980's) but they did not buff very heavily and it seems to have retained that Mark VI sound that everyone loves. Bundy Signature mouthpieces are some GREAT early mouthpieces. Made out of what seems like age resistant hard rubber these mouthpieces maintain their playability and sound. This mouthpiece is marked a 3, but plays more like a 5, personally. Great low register sound with no resistance and a biting high register(3- Vandoren Java reeds) I really do enjoy playing on these mouthpieces. It's a rarity, but when I come across one it's always a pleasure. This mouthpiece is in great condition! The original facing was 90/1/offset SMS. This however, was one of my first few experimental refacing mouthpiece so I tweaked it very specifically so bear with me. I flatten the table(removing most of the bubbling from the past) opened the tip to.120(for someone who has the chops! created a rollover baffle and thinned the rails. However, due to the tip opening but the same curvature lay, I would say it is a medium-short lay. I call this mouthpiece the wallpaper stripper. Why? Because it will cause your house to vibrate. MASSIVE sound, HUGE low end, EASY altissimo. Can't go wrong with that. 1951 Buescher Aristocrat Series III Model 156 Tenor Saxophone, Free Shipping!
I bought this saxophone in 2007 from junkdude.com and it has been sitting in the case unplayed since then. Here's the description from junkdude.com: Serial number 340690 dates this saxophone to 1951. The model 156 Aristocrat is the model that followed the famous Big-B model(also known as the model 156) The great thing about this model. Is that they are identical to the Big-B Aristocrats except for the engraving and the price.this model is typically quite a bit less expensive than the Big-B. This model features: snap-in dome metal resonators, Norton screw in springs, caramel color rollers, and ribbon style keyguards. These are great playing horns at a great price. Original lacquer is around 70% A very clean repair to the neck socket on the top of the body is the only repair. There are a few very minor dings. But nothing serious. Vintage 1965 Kohlert Tenor Saxophone - Made in Germany Sax w/ CASE
This auction is for a vintage Kohlert Tenor Saxophone. The serial number is 8378x. According to our research that places it from about 1965. The only markings on the horn are a"made in Germany" stamp near the neck hole. And an"M" marking with three dots above it(pictured below) The horn comes with what appears to be the original case. The case is in good condition and all the latches work well. The horn is a bit loose within the case, though, which is common for some of these old horns. The sax does NOT come with a mouthpiece. It includes a tenor pad saver. This horn is being sold as-is. We will do our best to describe it. Below you will find about fifty photos. It was professionally set up and regulated. It has typical wear for a horn of its age- some scratches, marks, and some finish wear. You will see a few spots of red oxidation tarnish in the pictures below. There is typical tarnish on the low Eb tone hole(pictured) A dent was professionally repaired on the front bow of the bell(pictured below) Also, the low C# post was positioned and soldered(pictured below) but the key fits nice and tight. Pads and corks were replaced as needed. The pads and corks that weren't replaced are in good shape. This horn has metal resonator pads and rolled edge tone holes like the Pre-1948 Conns. We suspect that this horn might have been built by Keilworth due to the rolled tone holes. This horn has a small bore and sounds much like the Buescher tenors of the 1950s- 60s. With the same brilliance. Ergonomics are very good and fit the average hand well. The small bore gives this horn an excellent altissimo range and the response is excellent. This is a beautiful modern professional tenor saxophone with an amazing"Selmer-like" sound. In fact. It reminded me of the unlacquered Selmer Series III I had years ago both in its look and its warm, focused sound. I have never had this horn out of the house and it comes in a magnificent hard case with two original keys for the locks. It is in amazing condition(see photos) and I honestly can't see any dings on the horn. There is a bit of a variation in the tones of the finish, but that is classic and typical for bare brass horns. Pads, corks and felts are all great.it comes ready to play. I liked several different set-ups on this horn including a Francois Louis hand finished composite T280, a V16 Metal T77, and an RPC.105 hand finished with rollover baffle. This horn has a tremendous range from lush low sub-tones to very full ... morealtissimo that just pops out of the horn. The key layout is slightly offset like the Paris Selmers and is extremely comfortable to play. Key work is tight and light to the touch. These CE Winds Vintage Series horns are really fantastic. There certainly is some lacquer finish loss on the piece(most notably be where the Selmer emblem/seal is on the mouth, opposite side of body from pads and that same side on mouth below bell, and the lower part of the guard over the lowest pad cup down on the bow, along the sides of a few of the pad cups and on part of the left and right hand keys) I am still surprised, at what I think is the original finish, how much is still there, and how good it looks after 57 years. Not going to give a percentage of lacquer still in place as not sure how one goes about calculating such a figure. There is missing lacquer and scratching. But that should be expected with a saxophone that has been played and has its' original finish on it. From what I have read, the matching serial numbers of 660XX would make this saxophone as having been produced in 1956. The serial number on the neck has the five digits. The serial number on the body has an"M" in front of the five digits, this was added to the serial number when the Mark VI model came out in 1954.

1965 Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone Excellent Playing condition
This 1965 Mark VI Tenor Saxophone is a Superb Instrument and has been well maintained for the last 20 years(with an overhaul as recent as March. 2013) This Instrument retains about 85 percent of its Original Lacquer and has a focused tone and a scale that is extraordinary(the horn's intonation is exceptional from top to bottom) The Saxophone was Manufactured in Paris but assembled at the Selmer Factory in Elkhart Indiana. This horn also really projects well and sounds great when recorded. This Saxophone has never been repaired for damage on the body and only has one small dent near the bow of the horn as illustrated on the last photo. A few of items to note. 1. This is a very early 20th century, aprox. 1913/1915) EVETTE& SCHAEFFER, BUFFET CRAMPON, Tenor, Gold Plated Saxophone" This wonderful antique has been in one family since it was originally purchased. The Grandfather of the family, Nicholas Anthony Testa Sr. was a conductor and band member, serving as a corporal in the US. 28th division in WW1, stationed in France. He carried this and another saxophone with him to entertain the troops with his companies Army band. While at war. He continued his band throughout the early 1940's era upon return from WW1. His heirs discovered this instrument carefully stored in the old homestead had it professionally restored. I purchased a soprano saxophone ... morefrom the family and was so impressed with its quality that I made an offer and purchased this tenor saxophone as well. I took it to a saxophone repair specialist. Dennis Lawson, who was completely taken by the instrument. He spent over three hours setting it up with new springs, setting the steel resonator pads, adding bushings where needed and playing it. He told me that in his 48 years of instrument restoration he had never seen anything like it. He was so impressed by the instrument that only charged me for the parts and 20 minutes of the three hours labor he put into the sax. He told me that he believed the saxophone was made in 1913-15, that it plays beautifully, and that it has mechanical features not thought to have been invented until much later. He told me that it has a bright, mellow tone that is only available in a hand made instrument such as this. He believes that the hole frames were silver soldered in place and told me that he lamped it and found no leaks. Ergonomically. These horns are not as comfortab le as a mode rn horn. But the sound of a vintage Martin is simply out of this world. YTS-475 Tenor Saxophone. Made in the USA! Description. This auction is for a fantastic Yamaha YTS-475 Tenor Saxophone in great playing condition. This instrument was assembled in the United States. And of course is considered a higher quality 475 than the ones assembled in indonesia, or even Japan. This instrument is a fantastic horn for an advanced intermediate player. The quality and tone of this horn has a great singing quality. This instrument will easily last someone through the college level. Yamaha Saxophones are known for their quality and consistancy. These instruments retail for nearly $3,000, so take advantage of this opportunity to get one for a fraction of the cost. Overall. This horn is in great cosmetic shape. It has light scratching around the instrument and a very shallow ding on the bell. The neck does have a couple dings ... morein it as well. However, the lacquer is close to 99% with only random spotting around the horn. One of the Eb guard posts has been resoldered, and pretty cleanly at that. Check the photos for details. But they really do not affect the sound, just the look of the horn. This instrument is one of the best 475s I've sold. It plays great. This horn is a dream to play. With a beautiful and easy high range, with a thick and powerful low range. The case is a high quality durable Yamaha thick plastic case. The case requires a little finagling to close properly, but once it does it is solid. Yamaha 4C mouthpiece, ligature, cap, swab brush and Yamaha hardshell case. Yamaha saxophone keys are not simply shaped and positioned according to mechanical neccessity; the entire system is designed from the player's perspective, with emphasis on comfort, speed, and overall playability. The natural feel of the keys eliminates the need to adapt to an unnatural or uncomfortable key layout!
