Systron Donner 8150 Nixie Tube Time Code Reader Generator - Parts, Gold Scrap
Here is a rare Systron Donner 8150 Time Code Reader fro m the early'70s that uses nixie tubes for its display. The s ticker in pic#3 shows a servicing in 1974 and the da te codes on the chips are mainly 1972. It's a former Navy laboratory surplus piece. Three digit serial number so there weren't ever many of these around. I would guess. I bought it years ago to use as a clock because I like interesting timepieces. Worked fine back then but now it doesn't set right. The far right digit can only be set to 0. 4, or 8. A lso. When you set the knob to GEN, the time advances but the seconds count off fro m the tens of seconds digit. The minutes and hours change but the days do not advance. I am no expert and the only thing I did to try and fix was to re seat all the plugin circuit boards. Didn't work. Almost all the boards have ... moreheavy gold traces. The 5991 nixies are all bright.
