Vintage 14k Yellow Gold 17mm Mabe South Sea Pearl Clip Earring Scrap Harvest 4.5
14k Yellow Gold& 17mm Mabe Tahitian Pearl Clip-On Earring This auction is for a single(1) 14k stamped and tested yellow gold earring that contains a large 17mm(approx. Mabe South Sea pearl. A"14k" plaque is visible on the mounting. And the clip is hallmarked"14k" and"PAT 156452" The total weight of the earring is 4.5 grams. The only blemish observed on this piece was a tiny vertical scratch mark(approx 1mm) on the pearl, near the setting. The scratch mark is visible on the last photograph posted above. I am not an expert, but it appears to be a very light surface scratch and not a crack or fracture in the pearl. The pearl is basket set. And was measured within the mounting using a digital caliper. I took this earring to a local jeweler to verify this was, indeed, a Mabe Tahitian pearl. The pearl was not appraised ... morefor quality; however, the jeweler did exclaim"that's quite a find, young lady! I just had to order a similar type of replacement pearl for a customer and it was quite expensive" I should probably explain that I found this earring mixed in with a bulk lot of costume jewelry that I purchased at auction, so it was an unexpected treasure that I immediately brought to my jeweler to help me identify. If any potential bidders need more exact measurements prior to bidding, please just send me a message and I will be happy to provide you whatever additional information you need. The mounting and clip were both tested to confirm metal purity. No other makers or manufactures marks were present.
