Antique Gold-Filled Pocket Watch Chain with Pencil Fob Scrap 28.51 Grams Vintage
Antique Pocket Watch Chain with Pencil Fob Many Condition Issues This gold filled or plated pocket watch chain is a recent estate find. It weighs 28.51 grams. The chain measures 12-5/8” long from the bottom of the hook to the top of the bar piece. The chain is approximately 3/16” wide. The hook or clasp is marked B F N& CO. You can pull the pencil entirely out of the bar. The top cap piece of the pencil portion is missing. The pencil extends and twists. But I’m not sure if it is supposed to do anything else. Is there more missing to it? I don’t know. The bar fob has quite an evident amount of pitting. And there is a small 2mm nick or scratch mark of sort that may or may not be from an old gold test. The pencil itself has several small dings, including a rather ugly amount of marks on the end that I think may actually be teeth marks. The ... moreend of the pencil also has waviness and related wear. The three chunky chain caps or decorations also have lots of pitting. And they are worn and dulled with loss of detail. The chain as a whole has a rather evident amount of scratching. Dullness, pitting, darkening and discoloration. The tight spots inside the links and decorations are incredibly dirty. There is a lot of greenish residue and related dirtiness. It is all noticeably tarnished. There’s also some ugly blackening. With a magnifying loupe. I noticed that a few of the links had flat spots I didn’t really see a lot of brass showing. There’s certainly some. But not a major or terribly evident amount. The ring that connects the clasp to the chain has evident bending. I noticed that if I am not careful in the handling of this chain. It will try to kink up. There are definitely a lot of condition issues. So please help me out by closely reviewing the pics to best judge what you are bidding on. Antique Gold-Filled Pocket Watch Chain Scrap 38.77 Grams
Antique Pocket Watch Chain Many Condition Issues This gold filled or plated pocket watch chain is a recent estate find. It weighs 38.77 grams. The chain measures 13-1/2” long from the bottom of the hook to the top of the bar piece. The width is 1/4” The circular disc pieces have lots of pitting. Waviness and dings, including one disc having a rather noticeable 1/8” dent(quite deep) They are also worn and dulled with loss of detail. The bar has a truly nasty amount of pitting– about as bad as it gets– absolutely throughout. The bar also has bending. There is a rather evident amount of gold loss. This gold loss is most evident to the links and hoops. But there is also some to the disc edges and whatnot. There is certainly more gold than brass showing, so I would guess that there is probably at least 60% of the gold left– this number is quite ... morearbitrary and potentially nowhere near accurate. Lots of scratching. Dullness, pitting, gold loss, darkening and discoloration. Most of the tight spots are rather dirty. I only quickly wiped this item down with a dry polishing cloth. Other than that. I am offering it as found. I noticed that if I am not careful when handling the chain. It will try to kink up. There are clearly many condition issues. this is a wonderful gold mourning brooch/pendant that the gold tests to be about 16k solid gold. The frame holding the glass is gold filled for strength. The center turns over to show the other side and locks in place for the front. The hair on the front is finely set in place with a white glass background which is chipped and missing a large chunk. I would love to open it to have a look inside but have resisted the temptation. The overall size is 2 1/2" long. 2 1/4" wide and about 3/4" thick including the pin. I do not know the treatments(if any) on these gems but I will include my opinion on them. Lot of Vintage/Antique Gold Filled& Rolled Gold Cufflinks. 161.6 Grams! There are quite a few nice matching pairs here. With a couple being antique, Victorian/Edwardian. This is a mixed group, so there is a bunch of 1/20th 12k Gold Filled. And quite a few 14k Rolled Gold Overlay, or 1/40th RGP. And there's a bunch of unmarked antique heavy GF. Most are in pretty good shape. But some have some wear to them, but nothing crazy. There's a bunch of different names including Swank, Krementz.ect. Theres a picture of the 4 Krementz items(heavy 14k overlay) which are all tie clips. There's a pair in the front center, which are marked Talon Grip, with kind of a guilloche style to them, which are not marked as to gold content because of their age I'm assuming, but tested at least gold filled. It is possible one or two other pieces, ... morelike the tri-color single cufflink, maybe be 12k gold fronted, but I do not know for sure.
