Available for your consideration this old RCA VoltOhmyst Multimeter Model WV-77E. This unit has 2 probes and is 110 powered. It had what sounded like a screw rattling around inside the case so I opened it up and found that one of the handle screws was missing so the post had fallen inside. I put the post back through the case and used a small piece of tape there till a screw can be found. Powered this thing up and it seems to work fine. Read DC voltage on a few batteries as well as Household AC and seemed pretty accurate. I think this originally had 3 probes but I only found 2 in the storage bin. 1 Red 1 Blue. This has a plastic and Bakelite case with metal mounting bracket. This has light/moderate wear: no chips or cracks/light tarnish and soiling-it is not tested. I purchased this volt-ohm meter for $80 back in 1985; that's $175 in today's dollars! It was expensive, but well worth it. It was used a few times for basic homeowner needs. This little meter is only about 3" x 3" It was no doubt a marvel of technology back at the time it was made. It would have been considered super compact then. The really amazing thing is the that the japan made ever ready battery stil has 1.4v of juice in it and it has not leaked! This battery is probably about thirty years old. Amazing. The leather case is in exceptional condition and is still supple. The only signs of wear really are on the leads that come with it. They have a few cracks in them. I can't find any other Casie meters anywhere so it must be somewhat rare. I tinkered with it and measured some voltages and resistors and it seems to work just fine. I'm not an expert on these vintage meters but it seems to be a fine specimen to me. Acquired many electronic items thru an estate sale. Many items are new and in ... moregood working condition. It appears to have a water proof case so maybe they climbed the antenea during a storm to figure out why the wife couldn't see or hear her soap opera? Vintage WWII US Navy Radar Tech Hickok 133B Electrical Volt Ohm Test Multi-Meter Up for auction is a vintage WWII US Navy Aircraft Chief Radio Technician's Electrical Testing Meter Hickok Model 133B. This belonged to my Grandfather Robert M. Pappy" Watson who. In addition to being a Texas panhandle radio and television broadcaster of some note after WWII, was in the US Navy during the war. See final photo of his grave marker(grave marker is not included in this auction) This was his personal test set and I inherited it after his passing. He told me many interesting stories about riding along with pilots on checkout flights in whose aircraft he was installing this new technology that they called radar. After receiving this meter I removed the main panel and found a slight amount of corrosion due to the batteries still being installed. ... moreI removed the"D" cell and unsoldered the two smaller batteries so as to prevent any further damage. The insulation on the test leads themselves has become rather brittle over the years so the wires would need to be replaced for a the piece to be restored to working order. Untested and offered for sale in as is condition but I am confident that it could easily be brought back to working order. This item has a great deal of sentimental value, as I am sure you can imagine, but times are financially tough at the moment and I am sure he would understand and support the fact that I have decided to auction it off to help pay bills. The lid is hinged and removable. The lid also has a rather impressive crash course in electrical theory attached that is quite fascinating. Given the history surrounding this particular item and the connection to the very early days of radar this unit probably belongs in a museum. Hopefully the winning bidder will keep and cherish this as much as I have for the last couple of decades.
