It seems to be a Prairie Tool Co. grinder with the original instructions. The only marking on the grinder itself is a"2" on the side of the base. On the box it says"No. G-1" Please study the pictures for the best description. The measurements are as follows: 7 1/2" from one end of the threaded bar to the other 6" tall The base measures 3 5/8" side and 2 1/8" front to back The wheel in the middle where I assume a belt would go measures 1 1/2" on its outer edges It is clean and sturdy and appears unused. What makes this one special is that it has Rochester. PA stamped and not Pittsburgh, PA. I believe the majority of these were made in Pittsburgh as I cannot find any others made in Rochester. I wish I knew the story. Of course Rochester is about 25 miles north west of Pittsburgh so this must have been made at a second plant. Overall. I would say the grinder is in good condition. It does have the original paint. It functions properly although it is a little noisy on the turn. The grinding wheel is worn. Vintage Antique Machinist DUMORE DIAMOND DRESSER ATTACHMENT Tool Post Grinder
Vintage 1930's to 50's Diamond Dresser for Dumore tool post grinder in excellent condition. The piece itself is not marked. There is some very light rust in a few spots on the screw and a little dirt in the grooves. The piece is in nice shape otherwise and just needs clean up. The diamond tip is present but does show some ware down. This was in my grandfathers tool box and everything else he had dated to the years mentioned so should be from that era. A stone that is used and worn down to about 5.5" looks like it would hold an 8" stone easily. It shows signs of typical wear and has a very small amount of surface rust in a few places as shown in the pictures. The lamp is included. The like new grinding stone and polishing wheel are included. This grinder has no damage and no missing parts. The safety lenses are good. The cords are good. As you can see, it does not have the stone. Grinder attaches to any bench without a problem. The top stem of the tightening rod is missing a cup, but it will tighten up for your use. I opened the grinder to show you the condition of the gear, which is in very nice shape. The tool has must of the original screws.
