This stand is the solid gilded brass; is not the less attractive cast iron that most are made of. The stand was manufactured by the Scroll Art Company from Bridgeport, Conn. stamped) and is circa 1895 to 1898. Quite extravagent, the stand features an ornate, Fleur de Lis pattern on the base in the Arts and Crafts genre. It has a large center tray upon which rests a very detailed, Gothic designed dragon with exposed teeth. The dragon holds the large cigar holder which is also the ashtray cup. This large cup is removable for cleaning. This stand is very heavy brass(it does NOT accept a magnet) and the brass has been gilded. It is very weighty and is extemely sturdy. It is in very good condition with some minor aging to the patina ... moreparticularly on the brass tray top. The aging does not affect the appearance of this spectacular piece. The stand is also marked" Patent Applied For" on the base as well. This is not a piece that is easily found and was not mass produced. It is grand in design and unsurpassed in quality and beauty. I believe that Kimball was a piano maker and though it seems unusual to have a cast iron nameplate on a piano it must be what this is. Maybe it was on a coin operated player piano of some kind. This is 6 inches long. 1 1/8 inches wide and 1/8 of an inch thick. A magnet does stick to it so it is deficiently made of cast iron. SOLID CONDITION. There are NO chips, cracks, or breaks in the cast iron. It is missing the front axle, 4wooden wheels, and 4 white rubber tires. This clock has a painted face and is heavy(13 1/2 LBS) While the age in undetermined. This clock has to be from the early 1900's or maybe even the late 1800's. I've had this clock running now for about a week and it keeps accurate time. The clock measures 10 3/8" across x 3 1/8" wide. The face itself measures 8 1/2" across and is made of a heavy guage steel. There is 3 mounting holes on the back. It is all original, but unsure about the key or the glass lens. It has 2 handles and 3 legs and has a rusty patina. But looks to be well seasoned with some interior pitting from use. The legs show rust pitting but are still intact as shown in the pictures. Antique Floor Grate Register Cast Iron Complete with Original Louvers This piece is marked"Patented Jan. 23. 1848" Made"Apr. 27, 1848" This was found here in Maine. It is all original. Complete and very heavy. There is a minor crack in the frame on one side that could easily be repaired or used'as is' There is original paint missing and a small amount of rust that does not interfere with the function. It is clean and the louvers move freely with the thumb adjuster on the side. The grate measures 13 5/8" x 9 3/4" The louver insert measures 8 1/4" x 12 1/4" These 2 pieces together weigh nearly 10 pounds. ANTIQUE CLOCK CAST IRON FRONT AMERICAN CLOCK NEW YORK
Offering this rare American made Mantel Clock by American Clock Company of New York. This is a Painted Cast Iron Front case with brass key and pendulum. The dial is in beautiful condition but some questions on its age and originality to this clock. The pendulum needs polishing and the round glass door in brass holder needs to be re attached to the clock front. It runs beautifully and according to"American Shelf and Wall Clocks by Robert W. D. Ball it was made between 1850 and 1860 and has a 30 hour movement with internal alarm. It has a wood case back. All looks original except face. It stands 15 inches tall and is 12 inches wide at the base. Also of interest is the well preserved sticker on the back of the wood case that indicates some work was done on the clock by" A. Vaucher, Watch Maker, Spring Valley, New York, Watches, Clocks ... moreand Jewelry, Constantly on Hand and Prepared in The Best Manner" with some other markings and the date 1872. This is a very interesting vintage or antique cast iron metal plate with a very modernist horse. It measures approximately 6 3/4" wide and is unsigned.
