They have not been lightened to make the product"look" better. You can lighten digital photos in Photoshop to make them clearer. A Photoshop lightened image is shown as the third image of a multimeter x-ray. This is a plastic sheet similar in thickness to cardstock but made of plastic impregnated with special rare earth materials. The image shown is the actual material being offered. The photo shows a vacuum tube which was exposed to 70kv 150ma from a medical x-ray machine and this ... moreprojected the image on the intensifier screen which was placed about one foot behind the tube. The closeup shows the larger projected image. This is due to the magnification effect that happens when the object being x-rayed is a significant distance from the imaging material.
