This is a lens assembly for a scintillation detector probe that used two APD detectors. The unit has two extreme short focal length lenses that APD's were mounted near. The lenses allowed the unit to utilize inexpensive small and fast APD detectors instead of large slow detectors. Inside it had a small rod of scintillator material with a helix of teflon flow tubing wrapped around it. It was used for monitoring ground water for Cesium 127 and other nuclear contamination. The lens assemblies are easily removed for use in other projects. And they collimate point source lights like fiber optics or laser diodes very well. The lenses are optimized for blue light. High Power ITT General Atomics Biplanar Photodiode Gamma Radiation Detector Tube
This is a high speed laser or optical radiation detection tube made by ITT General Atomics division in a maxwell labs housing with biasing electronics. The tube is type F4018. Give it-5000V and you can detect almost any kind of high speed flash pulse. This item is a complete detector tube module that is well suited to detection of lasers or nuclear photon pulse emissions. They were commonly used for nuclear blast energy measurement in the 1960's. It does work well when 2KV is applied to the BNC connector you get a nice pulse in sync from a small q-switched green yag laser fired against a flat white wall 30 feet away with no optical enhancement whatsoever except for a pinhole so the detector does not saturate. One cool use of this device is to capture the wave form from a q-switched lamp pumped YAG(shine it through KTP to convert it to ... moregreen) to determine if you are overdriving the laser. On an O scope, if you see a top hat or multiple spike waveform, that indicates that there is either too much energy to the lamp or too low of hold off on an AO q-switch. What you are aiming for is a nice gausian spike that is about 4nS duration. That big low inductance general radio output plug says it all, with a rise time of less than 50pS, if you have a need for speed here you go! This part is extremely hard to find and exotic to be sure. Zone VI Compensating Enlarging Timer With New L702 Photodiode Assy.
For sale is a Zone VI Studios compensating enlarging timer. This timer is specifically designed for use with cold light heads. As the tubes in the cold light heads warm up the output increases. This would normally make a constant and repeatable exposure impossible as the light output is an unknown quantity changing over time. This timer uses a photodiode to measure the amount of light produced by the lamp tubes and adjusts the time accordingly. The more light the shorter the exposure. Less light as when a tube is cold, the longer the exposure. There is also a"dry down" adjustment to compensate for density changes in the paper as it dries. All of these controls give you very constant exposures and takes the guesswork out. There is a socket for an optional foot switch and a switched AC receptacle for the enlarger lamp supply. The ... morephotodiode connects through a cable with a 3 pin DIN connector. This is wired to work with all Zone VI cold light heads and VC cold light heads. If you do not have one of these heads you may use the supplied photodiode assembly with any enlarger head. Instructions are supplied. Included with this timer is a brand new L702 photodiode assembly. Very hard to find. Installation instructions are included in the packet. SPECIAL NOTE! This unit requires a photodiode for proper operation. This diode is built into Zone VI cold light heads although you may use the supplied photodiode with any other type of head. Without the photodiode the timer will stay on and never turn off. IF you do not use the photodiode this timer will not work.
