Vintage Knife~Imperial 2-Blade Jack~Rare Early Patent
Imperial 2-Blade Serpentine Jack Knife. This is a patent that Imperial received in the early to mid 30's when trying to reduce production costs. It incorporates a nickel silver liner and bolsters. The liners are wrapped around the edges of the bolsters and handle material, essentially creating a one piece composition before final assembly. I can only assume that it wasn't as cost effective as they thought it might be, not many were produced. The blades are carbon steel, the primary has very good snap, the pen blade has excellent snap and halfstop. The handles are cracked ice with no cracks or chips, but some shrinkage at the ends. Picked up this old Hardy Boys at an estate sale. I know it is pre-1964. Because the addresses have the old zone code rather than zip code. Copyright page says 1942 but I am sure this was printed later than that, likely the 50s, since the inside flap has a listing of Hardy Boys books that is another twenty or so titles past this one. Dust jacket has tears and missing chunks at top and bottom of spine. Holes punched in lower corners on front and back of the dust jacket. Boards aren't worn in the corners to cardboard. Antique Vintage Small Stag Horn Handle Fixed Blade Knife No Maker's Mark
Fresh from a very old New York estate! I don't know much about knives. But can tell you this one came from an estate in which I found many primitive antiques. It is a short fixed blade knife with a genuine stag horn handle. The entire knife measures 6 5/8" long. The blade measures 3 3/8" long and at it's widest point it 5/8" wide. The handle has a short tight crack and the metal has the original old patina- dark and oxidized. There may have been a name on the blade. Held in the light just right, I think I see remnants of letters but I can not make anything out so consider it unsigned. The knife is sharp as found. I did not clean or sharpen it. Rare Antique Surgical Scissors with Unusual Folding Spring & 1 Serrated Blade
This is a very cleverly designed pair of scissors made from stainless steel with a folding spring that was almost certainly made for medical/surgical use. The folding spring is a complex feature allowing compact storage that suggests these were designed to be carried in a roll of instruments for use in a field surgical unit. The blades are interesting. One has tiny serrations along its length and the other is plain. The handles have a cross cut decoration that would improve the grip and the length overall is 19.5 cm. The scissors are marked with an interesting trade mark which is a well and the words"Well Finished" a clever play on words used by the Sheffield producer, John Henry Blyde between 1868 and 1919. They are in very good condition, undamaged apart from a few minor spots of corrosion as shown. Here is an interesting pair of unused vintage MINIATURE gilt sewing scissors and a single blade folding knife. both are attached to a loop which could have been originally attached to a ladies CHATELAINE or a gents POCKET WATCH CHAIN and worn as novelty items. Right then. the gilt scissors these you will see are the STORK shaped scissors. they are in wonderfull never been used condition. The single blade pen knife is again in unsed condition. the blade folds out and snaps back shut. it has a small suspension loop too. ... moreits got the brass inner sheet linings and steel blade and the handles are held on with 3 brass rivetts. the handles MIGHT be faux ivory.but are more likely to be IVORINE which is an early plastic.celluloid.on top of the loop it has a miniature cotton tassel which is sewn to the original shop display card. The Stork scissors are 1 and half inch long and the Penknife is just over 1 inch long when folded up.this includes the suspension loop. the blade is 3/4 inch long. The card is 4 x 2 and half inch. Both of these items are not to be confused with the ever increasing reproduction items you find on ebay these days coming out of China etc. these are BOTH original vintage items.
