It is commercially available for garden cultivation. It is prized for its fragrant white flowers. Similar to Camellia blossoms; the smell may remind some of honeysuckle. The tree has a symmetrical, somewhat pyramidal shape, with different individuals of the species forming almost identical crowns. The fruit develops slowly. The seed capsules require 12–14 months to mature. When ripe the 5-valved spherical capsules split above and below in a unique manner. It prefers sandy. High-acid soil, and does not tolerate compacted clay soil, excessive moisture, or any disturbance to its roots. The Franklin tree has no known pests, but it is subject to a root-rot disease and does not endure drought well. Franklinia alatamaha sounds exotic. And it truly deserves to be. Known as the Franklin tree, the lost camellia, or the lost Gordonia, it has perhaps the most romantic, mysterious past of any native American plant species. It is 19" tall and the diameter of the center bowl is 13" The detail of the elephant and palm tree is exquisite. Tekna jumping/eventing saddle. Seat is 16.5, tree is medium. Very soft synthetic leather saddle. It does not have the QuikChange system but is built on a flexible tree and was used for the past year on a 16 hand high withered med/narr TB and a 14.2 hand fat wide Welsh QH cross. It fit both of them very well. It is comfortable, puts you in a great position, offers fantastic support with its deep seat and looks fabulous. No one can tell it's not leather until they get right up next to it and frankly, who cares? I wouldn't show in it on the'A' hunter circuit but it's absolutely suitable for any level eventing, jumping or'B' and lower local circuit. One of the best things about this saddle is its upkeep. Just wipe it off and it still looks amazing.
