John Deere 226-247 2 row 3 point corn planter
This is a John Deere 246-247 corn planter in restorable condition. It's not working like it sits. The fertilizer plates are rusted and frozen tight. Will not move at all. There is only one fertilizer hopper and its been repaired as you can see in the picture. It does have a good lid though. The seed hoppers are decent. One has rust through at the base. Both lids are good. The seed parts will move. I think if you either fix the fertilizer part or unhook it. The seeder will work. All chains are good from what I can see. The skids are good and not broken. I'm no expert on these. I bought it to resell. If you want to come look it over I can be around most anytime. Also. May- be the best thing since sliced bread. Well. Maybe. There are those that swear at these, and there are those that swear by these. It depends on what you expect by what these are called. Doesn't matter who makes them or how, the word"precision" is mentioned somewhere. Put it this way, It's one hellova lot easier using this, than seeding by hand. All components in original box. Including manual and original packaging. Used this past season and is nearly new. Think about it. How many times can it be used in 1 year? Not much- and we had a 1/4+ acre garden. Takes practice to get good. I found a little bar soap rubbed on a dry seeder plate/ hopper contact point really improved the"precision" part. John Deere 2 Row 25b Corn Planter which has always been stored in doors all its life. It sits out right now because the farm is sold and no storage is available. It has extra seed plates that go along with it. The fertilizer boxes do have some rust holes in the bottom of them and have not been used in some time when planting. You will notice in the pictures that one of the disk openers is different on the right side of planter. But the original one come with it, but one of the disks has a loose bearing which is why is was swaped over to this other type. The planter is complete and is very restorable. I have a Kinze model PT planter for sale. It is a 4 row planter on 36" rows. It has trash whippers and row markers so that you can no-till plant. It also has liquid fertilizer tanks with Yetter fertilizer coulters. And a John Blue pump for the liquid fertilizer. The planter has a Dickey John monitor to let you know if one of the rows is not planting. Also it comes with dry herbicide boxes. I bought the planter from a farmer in Iowa, and it has been shedded it's entire life. It has corn brushes that only have 41 acres planted with them since they were replaced. I am selling some of my husband's Planet Jr. pieces that he has been collecting for a few years. I will have several auction listings this week. This listing is a PLANET JR. No. 4 SEEDER or PLANTER. On top of the seed box/hopper it is marked: U.S.A. PLANET JR. No. 4" On the bottom side of the hopper it is marked: K 577" Also on the front of the seed box is some remainder of the flower-like'star' emblem. The broken seed spacing star is marked: K575 on one side and 4 IN" on the other side. The plow point that opens up the row is marked: K 806. The two row closers are marked: K 248" and"K 249" The part of the frame that the back wheel attaches to is marked: K 409" There is a black metal plate next to the hopper that is marked with different vegetable names(indicating how deep to plant the seeds) ... moreI consider the planter to be in good used shape. But has a few issues. As I stated above. the seed spacing star has a broken piece, the original back wheel is missing and it has been replaced with a hand made wooden one, there is a crack in the cast iron below the hopper(see picture) and one of the pieces that the handle attaches to is broken off. I am listing as'for parts' We have the original handles for it but are not selling them with the seeder frame. The packaging of them is too difficult. I have estimated the shipping weight at 30 pounds. If the cost ends up being considerably less. then I will refund partial shipping cost back through your paypal account. Nice ford 4 row corn planter. Model 352. Have many extra plates with it, farmer it came from used it every year and always kept it tarped as long as he had it. Fert bins are in good shape and augers spin freely, good disks and tail wheels. Currently has car tires on it, has good hyd cylinder. Never used it but going off what the farmer I bought it off of said and the way it looks I would imagine it would plant no problem, very clean shape. Was always greased and it shows, everything moves and spins well. Only have one row marker for it. Please look at pictures. They are the best way for you to see what you are buying. If you buy the item and you are not happy with it when once you inspect it IN PERSON. You do not have to take it. Cash is the best payment upon pickup. This wire is called"Thompson's Cast Iron Double Padlock" by collectors. ref. Goedert& Greer No. 228) This wire features a cast iron trip, that is round with a cast in loop on opposite ends. Trip measures 1-1/8" in length. Wire sample is a minimum of 18" in length. Wires and trip show some age and use wear with moderate to heavy pitting on wires. Wire is in good use condition.
