There is no pocket for a rod to go through. There is fringe on 3 sides. I would want the stripes to go up and down and I think they are supposed to go across. Which makes the curtains super wide, or super long if you hang them the other way. In any case, they are very nice. These came from an estate and she did have a dog. I've seen a few hairs on them, and have shaken them out and done my best to remove what I see. I cannot guarantee they will be 100% dog hair free though, because I too have dogs.
