This jug was found in an old barn in Pennsylvania and is believed to have been used for Maple Syrup or possibly moonshine. With the spout I would say more likely syrup. The cork was in the jug when found. So I left it. There is some damage to the top as shown in the photos and a crack in the bottom of the handle at the bend. This is a clean tin with very little rust. The next is similar in design but the 2 quart size. It is stamped New York. Both featured two men at the sugar shack. The other is the log cabin design. This is a Vintage Maple Syrup Glass Ice Bucket with Metal Handle. The glass bucket stands about 5 1/2" tall and is 5 3/4" round at top of bucket. It has been used and has very few scratches to the surface. There are no chips or cracks to the glass bucket. The metal handle does come off for cleaning. It is not marked by the maker. Good info always welcomed. Great item to add to a collection. I would say is in very good condition.

Uncle John's Maple Syrup Billboard Advertising Poster complete, Antique 1920s
This auction is for a COMPLETE billboard poster dating from around 1920. This billboard from Uncle John's Syrup is a full and complete 19.5 by 8+ foot poster billboard that was never used. The character in the billboard. Though having an"Uncle Sam" appearance is in fact J.B.Shurtleff the owner of the company. The scene depicted on the billboard was in fact an accurate representation of the owner, as he had a long standing reputation for being very hands on in his business, often insisting on bringing in the syrup from the woods himself. He was known as a reclusive pioneer of the sap business. The company, based in Boston stayed in business until the 1920's and was also know for its production of honey and mustard. This original 1920's billboard is unused. The condition. For its age is rather remarkable considering it ... morewas never designed to last, particularly un-posted. It does have some mildew and moisture damage and there are rips and tears along the seams and edges of the billboard(please see conditions and images for clearer views of the damage) I have done some research on this particular billboard and found an estimated value of $1700-$2000 at auction. I am starting the billboard off at a fraction of that estimate, and with no reserve. This beautiful early billboard would lend itself nicely to a bit of restoration, and maybe being laid carefully on a canvas backing. I have made no attempts to clean or restore the piece myself and it is exactly as I found it in an old chicken coop here in Mid-coast Maine. It is a 100% authentic and period piece of advertizing. This is a legitimate antique WOODEN MAPLE SYRUP TREE TAP.They were used in Vermont(It is unknown where this tap was used) to harvest tree sap to be boiled to make Maple Syrup. I do not know how old it is but it appears to have quite some years on it. As you can see it is in excellent condition. This would make a nice addition to anyone's collection.

It also depicts a form of winter sport that virtually disappeared since this 1880’s image. The toboggan run was a popular activity. But interest in it was likely eroded by the 20th century growth of the ski industry. If this image has any accuracy to it, from an accident point of view, I would rather ski through trees than go down this run. The reverse text is interesting in that it references a medical benefit in using this syrup in making the flat statement with no details that it is“recommended by physicians” Another curious point is that this ad text is likely illegal in today’s proprietary and tightly controlled maple syrup market. The implication is that this is maple syrup; however. The reference to“rich maple taste” hints ... morethat this is not pure maple syrup. It actually may have not even been part maple syrup, but rather maple flavored cane syrup. And a western company? I don’t think so. This product is trading on the good name of real maple syrup. Excellent condition w/ 2 minor light spots in the upper right corner. The scan images tend to be harsher than what is actually there. Any paper discoloration. Or stains show as darker than in real life. Also, paper wrinkles tend to be exaggerated. All items original to period- No reproductions sold in my store. Vintage Stainless Steel Milk Pail Bucket goat / cow milking maple syrup more!
Up for purchase here is a stainless steel milk bucket. Milking. Maple syrup making, gardening and more! This bucket is an unknown maker and age. It's in used condition with flaws as pictured. I cleaned it up some but it needs a deep cleaning/ sanitizing depending on the use you intend.

Please refer photos& ask questions. PLEASE NOTE: AS IS" Antique condition Very old 19th Century item with damage. Used with wear and flaws. Finish shows scratches. Dark tarnish, small dings and dents. Note scratches. Dark marks, tarnish, and small dings. I did try to enlarge several of my photos and I avoided the flash because of glare it produced. I will not polish and will let that up to the buyer. Design is ornate with tiny details of three part leaves in etched line relief. Somebody said it is"Ivy on ... morethe Vine"and the leaf motif goes around both sides. The interior of lid. Top(spout neck) and the underneath bottom are still shiny. Handle is very gracefully curved and securely attached. The lid has detached on the lip back edge of the top and has a ding on rim edge. The hinge is straight and doesn't show damage and that surface is rather smooth so I think it could possibly be repaired by a jeweler. The finial on the top of lid looks like a stylized"fleur-de-lis" finial. Even with these issues it still fits nicely on the pitcher. I did toy with the idea of having this repaired to use as a serving piece. I also was approached by an artist who makes small tabletop fountains and bird feeders from antique silverplate. but I think it should go to a collector. My grandmother used it for maple syrup when she served crepes& pancakes AND only REAL Canadian Maple syrup would do for her family! She and I shared of love of horses and a portion is going to support OTTBs. Very dainty and pretty. It really is nicer in person. BUT AGAIN please be comfortable with the flaws I have mentioned.
