The2FunAdGuyz offer an ORIGINAL. Vintage, full color. 1964, 2-page, Farm Journal Magazine Ad for Ford models 2000. 4000 and 6000 Tractors. Ford Tractor Division, Birmingham, Michigan; manufactured these tractors. Ford was showing off in this ad. Presenting a tractor for every farm job-from planting to harvesting, and everything in between. The pictures show a disk, manure spreader, and a two-row corn picker all being operated by the full line of Ford tractors. Henry Ford had a rough start in the tractor business and never achieved the success he had with cars in the Ford Motor Company. However. Because much of the success of the"Model T" was that its price allowed people to afford it, Henry Ford wanted to build a tractor every farmer could afford. That meant Ford was perceived as being not quite a real tractor-more of a utility ... moretractor. That perception came to haunt Ford when mid 20th century farmers demanded bigger tractors with more horsepower. Ford had powerful tractors but they needed to be perceived as such. Ford eventually merged with New Holland and in the early 1990s sold everything to Fiat. The Ford brand by agreement with Fiat disappeared in 2000, but New Holland, under Fiat, has become one of the biggest tractor manufacturers in the World. This particular ad is all about the big. Color photograph(as were many Ford ads of this era) Farm magazines were paying careful attention to production and glossy paper and border less ads were the thing. Big manufacturers were taking advantage of these formats, particularly when promoting multiple models-as this one does with these models. Vintage magazine advertising offers a rare snapshot of our culture. Tastes, fashions and values as they were perceived at the time these ads were created, often by some of the best artists and writers of their time. They provide context for that time whether they are framed and displayed or become part of a historical collection. Those who display or collect them have a unique take on that moment in time. Please contact me with questions) I believe these are from 1964 or 1965, the 12 page brochure is in full color, it measures 15 1/2" by 17 1/2" when opened up(only flaw I can see is some minor edge/corner damage) The 12 page financing booklet is in mint condition. The mailing envelope has some wear from age, I do not see any writing or tears on any of the items. Paperwork shows these are from the De Smet and Iroquois, South Dakota area.
