Born in Arvada CO Brad Has lived in Durango for the last 14 years. His fly fishing career of 28 years started out fishing with his Dad. He has tied flies for most of that time as well ... moreand recently was appointed by Umpqua Feather Merchants as one of their signature tiers.

His favorite places to fish are high country streams with difficult access primarily for the peace and solitude.

If not the high country creeks, he loves saltwater flats anywhere, including the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Belize & Florida.

Brad loves to fish small dries to difficult fish. He also pursues pike and carp with a passion.

But some of his greatest moments are teaching kids to fish and catching their priceless smiles from their first success.

Will is one of the head guides here at Animas Valley Anglers, he also happens to be the owner. Be it an addiction or a love for the craft Will can be found fishing and guiding through ... moreout the Southwest well over 200 days each year. He has been going strong on these local waters since 1989, and started guiding in 1992. Will started his guide career with Duranglers in Durango Colorado. Will guided for seven years with that outfit before starting Animas Valley Anglers in 2000.

He brings a tremendous amount of knowledge, expertise and a positive, enjoyable attitude to a guide trip. Will is comfortable on any body of water, in pursuit of any species of fish. Be it Rio Grande brownies, picky San Juan bows, Babine steelhead or anything in between. Will has logged more guided float hours on the Animas and upper San Juan (Pagosa) than most anyone. Will has put in his time on water making him one of the regions most sought after guides. After spending a day on the water with Will you will have learned the true meaning of the "fly fishing experience."

When not guiding...
Will can be found late in the fall and early winter exploring the remote waters of north central BC for the worlds largest steelhead. He spends countless hours probing the Kispiox, Babine, Bulkley, Skeena and many other remote waters with friends, his wife Amanda and their black lab Kispa. (Chloe, their Dane/Lab mix has to stay home)

Will and Amanda are also proud parents. They welcomed Benjamin Rally Blanchard into the world December 15th 2010. Ben's first fishing trip to the Animas was 10 days later on Christmas day.

When not working hard on the oars or wading knee deep in a steelhead stream Will can be found behind the lens of his camera documenting the natural world and the fly fishing lifestyle. He also spends a lot of time in front of the computer as a web designer and graphic artist for Animas Valley Anglers.

One of his true passions however is ice hockey. He spends countless hours on the ice at the Chapman Hill Ice Arena in Durango Colorado as well as the frozen ponds, lakes and rinks near Smithers BC.
Aaron Hyder is one heck of a guide, plus he just happens to be one of the nicest ones out there on the water. His laid back no-pressure style, (like so many AVA guides) has earned ... morehim a great reputation from the San Juan to Alaska and all waters in between. He can get rookies into fish in no-time and tune up veteran anglers like no other.

His guide career put him in Alaska on the Togiak River from 2000-2005 (all salmon species on both single-handed fly rods and spey). He has lived in Durango since '98, but has been fishing the Juan and the other great waters of the Southwest since he was 12-years old. He started guiding on the Juan professionally in 2005.

All of Aaron's clients and friends would say he is an ace on the Juan. They are all starting to say the same for all the water he is sharing north of the San Juan. From the Rio Grande, Animas and Upper San Juan to all the mountain streams around Durango Aaron's becoming a hot commodity in the guide world.

Aaron has a fantastic guide style, but his ability to teach new anglers is uncanny. He can also help accomplished anglers reach personal angling goals quickly. A day on the water with Aaron will leave you feeling like you accomplished something. Like big fish? Well, Aaron is the guy for the job. Big fish just fall in his net.

When not guiding...

Aaron loves spending time with his family, teaching, playing golf, snow and water skiing, baseball games and drinking cold PBR.

Tim has been guiding the Southwest since the mid 90's and brings a ton of knowledge, fun and humor to AVA. Being an accomplished fly tier and angler makes Tim an outstanding guide and friend on the water.

Tim is very much at home on the San Juan in northern New Mexico or looking for brookies and cuts on the mountain creeks. However, the highlight to Tim's guide season is the time spent guiding on the Rio Grande and at Man Camp. Be it wade fishing or cranking on the oars on a float trip, you are in good hands with Tim.

Off the water Tim works on countless home projects, works as a finish carpenter for Jarvis Construction, ties flies and can be found at the local hockey rink. But he also likes watching reckless browns smash big dries.
