When I plugged in the machine, it turned on with a flip of the green switch located on the side of the machine. The cooling fans on each side of the machine turned on. When I used the control panel in the front, I was able to have each side of the machine spin as if it were mixing a drink. The lights on the top of the machine did not illuminate, but I do not know if there is a setting to turn them on.
