For sale here is: t 21 Little River Railroad Co The Little River Railroad is a historic that operated between and during the period 1901 to 1939. The Little River Railroad(the LRR" was established as a subsidiary of the Little River Lumber Company on November 21. 1901. Colonel W. B. Townsend was the owner of both entities. The LRR was primarily a logging railroad. The Little River Lumber Company owned over 76.000 acres(31,000 ha) of prime forest land in and counties. ... moreBy the time Little River Lumber Company completed operations in 1939. It had harvested two billion board feet(4,700,000 m³) of lumber from the watershed. The general methodology of the LRR was to build a line into an area. Complete the logging operation, then remove the line. In all, the LRR built 150 miles(240 km) of track, none of which still exists. The LRR operated a number of forms of equipment during LRR's lifetime. The primary logging locomotive was the Shay. The LRR also utilized the 4-6-2 Pacific and the first 2-4-4-2 Articulated Mallet. In addition. The LRR owned a rail bus and Col. W.B. Townsend utilized a rail car. In 1925. Col. Townsend agreed to deed all of the holdings of the Little River Lumber Company to the for $273.557, or $3.58 an acre. This purchase represented a singular milestone in the eventual creation of the park. The purchase permitted the Little River Lumber Company to continue logging within the park boundaries until 1938. Here is an old nail apron. This is from the H. O. Seiffert Lumber Co. in Davenport. Iowa. It has an ad for Ruberoid Quality Building Materials at the top. It has two pouches. This measures about 16 1/2" long(without the strings) and 11" tall. This is very dirty and stained from use. There is wear to the writing. The strings are twisted and fraying at the ends. The seam is torn most of the way along the strings. One string is shorter than the other. The pouch is solid. Please view pictures to see condition. Hi your looking at 3 large pieces of wood. One is spalted Maple. The other is spalted Walnut, and the middle one in the pictures is either Curly Maple or Ambrosia, I'm not too for sure on that one but it is extremely hard. These blocks were collected by me personally at a farm in New York. This is lot 4 of 5 lots I'll be listing. The blocks are very big as you can see from the measurements. I'll be shipping them in a Flat Rate Large Priority Mail Box because of the weight, and the 3 pieces fill it completely the box is 12x12x5. These have only been cut with a chain saw and a table saw. Paperweight is in the shape of a bundle of lumber bound by a strap in the center. Measures approx. 3.75 inches long. 2.25 inches wide and 1.5 inches tall at the ends of the bundle. Edgewear including chips and abrasions as would be expected of an item of this age and intended use.
