With three sections to each mark. They include: ESTABLISHED 1840 HENRY DISSTON& SONS INC D-15 PHILADELPHIA USA LIGHTWEIGHT" in the Disston logo on the left. FOR BEAUTY. FINISH, AND UTILITY THIS SAW CANNOT BE EXCELLED HENRY DISSTON" in the middle, and- VICTORY" and"PROCLAIM VICTORY THROUGHOUT THE WORLD" with a large logo including an eagle and the Liberty Bell on the right. The medallions on both are marked"DISSTON USA" The rip saw is marked"5 1/2" Meaning that it is a 5-1/2 point saw, which is equivalent to 4-1/2 teeth per inch. The cross-cut saw is marked 8" Meaning that it is an 8 point saw, which is equivalent to 7 teeth per inch. For the rip saw. Vintage H. Disston& Sons 24" Miter Saw in nice clean condition. Measures 31" in overall length- Blade measures 25" with 24 1/2" of teeth. Based on the medallion design. This Diiston saw was prodeuced between 1888 and 1890 sometime. The stiffener is stamped'Langdon Mitre Box Co. Millers Falls. Mass' Disston manufactured Miter Saws for Langdon during this time period. There are 11-12 tpi with no missing teeth. Stiffener is straight. Cutting edge has slight skew. The wooden handle is in good condition with just a small nick under one of the horns. Also has some paint smatterings. I cleaned off any surface rust and lightly oiled it for protection. There is some minor pitting. But this Saw is over 120 years old! I bought it for fine woodworking tasks. But rarely used it. Only in researching to do this listing did I learn that this is also a light metal cutting saw. I have never cut any metal with it, only wood. It has very fine teeth, with 15 points per inch. The blade is 20" long; and with the handle included it is 24" long overall. The text on the blade is"No. 240 Disston. Disston Division H.K. Porter Company, Inc. Danville VA U.S.A. Reg. US Pat Office, M DE F M. IND. RGTRADA" Also the keystone logo is stamped onto this blade. Porter purchased the Disston Co in 1955, so this saw dates after that. I think I bought it in the 1970s. ... moreCondition: This saw is in good condition. There are no kinks or dents in the blade. I'm not sure if the several small dark spots that are on the blade are rust or a patina that is starting to develop with age. I have not tried to remove any of it. Here we have a rare find and that would be an older vintage DISSTON No. 2 Saw vise that is in near MINT condition showing nop signs it was ever used. To make things even better it has a filing guide bar and bottom half of the file holder assembly, they show no signs of use either, The no 2 vise is the one that can be asjusted for angle which really kelps with making it easier to file the teeth. Its jaws are about 9 1/4 inch across.Jaws close up perfectly with no gaps or spacers.Tops of the jaws show no signs of a file ever touching them, even with light use these jaws get marked up.but not this one! Antique/Vintage H. Disston Hand Saw D-8 Skewback 20" 10PPI Crosscut 1896-1917
H. Disston& Sons model D8 and it is a skew back saw. The medallion is early H. DISSTON& SONS*PHILADA* with the Keystone. The blade is 20" long. It's 2" at the toe and 5" at the heel. I count 10 tpi or ppi and it is stamped with a number 10 at the heel. Very straight blade with some discoloration. There is no rust and no pitting on the blade. The etch on the blade is still sharp and clear. The teeth are still sharp. The handle is solid and tight. The top horn has been cleanly knocked off, pictured, otherwise no cracks or repairs. It does have some dings and scratches that come from use and age. Much of the original finish remains in the handle. I don't think it would take much at all to fully restore this saw. Otherwise, it's a great display piece or gift for the tool collector, handyman, carpenter or wood ... moreworker. Vintage Henry Disston & Sons Hand Saw Keystone Saw Works Phildelphia U.S.A.
You are bidding on this Henry Disston& Sons Hand Saw. Also included is a Key Hole Saw. Both are Vintage. The Henry Disston Saw blade is 22 3/8" long. With 10 teeth per inch. The logo is hard to read, and the saw has rust and wear. The handle is intact, with a small split to the wood underneath to the upper tang. I cannot find any numbers on this saw. The Key Hole Saw is marked on the handle, Patented Dec.12th, 1905. Both saws came from the same estate, but the exact age of both is unknown. If I had to guess, I would say early 1900's-1910. VINTAGE DISSTON ? 30" SKEWBACK BREASTED BLADE HAND SAW 1" U.SA. MEDALLION
I'm not sure what I have here. This saw measure about 33 3/4" in total length with a 30" blade.The handle has four bolts and a 1" Disston U.S.A. Medallion. The blade is both skewback and breasted and is in poor shape with surface rust and 22 broken teeth. The handle has rounded edges with two dowels evident. Top and bottom, and does not have horns like other Disston saws I see on the internet. I don't see any reference to Disston or any other manufacturer on the blade but it is rusty and not cleaned. Let me know if you are just interested in the handle and hardware, and I can sell those items for less.
