Vintage Disston D-18 Skew Back Hand Saw w/ Bakelite Handle - 1920's
Y ou are looking at a vintage 26" skew back hand saw with black Bakelite handle made in the USA by Henry Disston& Sons. This saw is marked on the face with the older familiar keystone logo with the makers name. Item number, and guarantee etched into the saw. This saw was made only for a few years, in the mid 20's, and then dropped from the line. This saw features 11 ppi, with all the teeth being intact and in good shape. Sighting down the blade, it is nice and straight and has a nice patina. This saw has a black Bakelite handle that is marked"Henry Disston& Sons inc. Patent Applied For" on the back. The handle shows usage, but is not broken or cracked.There are a couple of very tiny specks of white paint. It is held fast by 5 brass lugs, one of which holds a"Disston- Phila" medallion. Quality older saw in useable condition needs to be scraped with razor blade. Sharpened and used. I scraped the area of the etch and was able to make out the logo and the no. 12 sorry it is not a 120. Blade is reasonably straight, handle is worn and horns are bruised but no cracks or serious damage. There is no number at the heel of the blade where the tpi number is usually stamped. 24" blade might classify this as a panel saw. Somebody had fun with this old saw and used it to help them make a living, it might be one for you.

Vintage Disston 12 tpi And 5 1/2 tpi Hand Saws
I know some of these Disston saws can go for some money but while I'm a word worker I'm not familiar with the older tools. Nor am I a tool restorer or appraiser so this is one of those instances where I'm not sure if the price is accurate. I guess if I'm low. My loss is your gain. These saws show use and have Ben hanging in a shed for many years. They are still pretty sharp and are straight except for a small bend on the very last couple of teeth that can be bent back as there's no crack in the metal. The 5 1/2 has paint on top(for quick identification) unless it's from the factory. Vintage H. Disston Hand Saw D-8 Skewback 26" 8PPI Crosscut 1940-1947
H. Disston& Sons model D-8 and it is a skew back saw. The medallion is DISSTON*U. S. A. with the Keystone. The blade is 26" long. It's 2-1/4" wide at the toe and 7" at the heel. I count 8ppi and it is stamped with a number 8 at the heel. Very straight blade with some discoloration. There is minimal rust and there is some minor pitting on the blade. The etch on the blade is visible. Not sharp but it can probably be cleaned up to look better. The handle is solid and tight. There are no chips, or repairs but a few cracks are starting as it is pretty dry from having no finish left on it. It does have some dings and scratches that come from use and age. Almost none of the original finish remains on the handle. I don't think it would take much at all to fully restore this saw. Otherwise, it's a great display piece ... moreor gift for the tool collector, handyman, carpenter or wood worker. This is a nice vintage Disston& Sons 12" Back Saw. The medallion dates this to 1896-1917. I was planning to restore it but do not have the time currently. The saw plate is 12" and about 14 ppi. The etching on the blade is faint but visible. There is some staining and some light pitting on the blade. Blade is slightly bowed. The back is straight. The handle is in good shape. this is a vintage H.Disston&sons rip saw. starter cut nib is intact.blade is in great shape.and blued finish. there does appear to be a crack in the handle.although it appears to have been fixed. there is also the initials l.e inscribed under the disston logo.in my opinion.it simply adds character.i could be wrong but it appears this saw could date anywhere from.1880.to 1920. i cant say for sure. the blade is very smooth.and could be put into service.or just displayed on the wall. refer to pics. message any questions prior to bidding. enjoy.and good luck bidding.

Here is a lot of old Disston handsaw for parts or restoration. There is a D7 5 1/2pt rip saw with a 26" blade that is sharp and looks like it was recently sharpened. Had tape on teeth when I got it. There is a D8 26" 8pt crosscut too. Last is a 7 with a rough handle, 26 1/2" blade filed 8pt. The odd size plate and the etch which looks like&SON doesn't match the recessed keystone medallion. All saws have some rust and pitting but are pretty straight and could be restored for use. That said, I am selling as is for parts or restoration. There is a Black Diamond Saw Co. with a 26" blade filed 9pt. A Worth with a 26" blade filed 8pt. One marked Superior with a fisherman on it that has a 26" blade filed 8pt. There are 3 disstons. The National hardware Special 1840-1954 that has a 26" blade filed 8pt, has a tight split in handle. There is one that is either a 23 or 8 with a 26" blade filed 5 1/2pt rip and one that looks like a 12 with a 24" blade filed 11pt. Vintage Rare Hand Saw Chicago maker square Level & saw tool no disston Restore
for auction is an Unusual hand saw. It is a patent pending saw. It is a recent estate find. It is unusual in that it has a cross test level built into the handle. Also it has a brass insert on the front of the handle that makes it square to the edge of the blade. The blade is 26' long. It is 7 TPI. The blade is pretty good cleaned condition. The previous owner must of started to restore it. But never finished the project. this saw is a project) There are issues. One of the bubbles in the level in the handle is dry. The other bubble is good. The handle has multiple cracks. the walls of the handle are cracked where the level goes) see pictures) The blade is straight but there are 2 teeth missing in action at the front end of the blade. The saw handle has some damage on the upper horn. There is spots of pitting and areas of minor, shallow ... morepitting. The Mark on the blade is present but very faint. some is obscured by the corrosion/pitting mark. see pictures) Some of the mark says; scribe level& saw. It is also marked east Madison street Chicago ILL It is also marked patent pending. The maker of the saw is Also on the blade. But it is very faint and I can not make it out. It is something? VINTAGE DISSTON No. 23“DEFECTIVE” ETCH Here is Disston No. 23 CC saw with an etch that makes it highly collectible. Now first it should be noted that you just don’t see these“DEFECTIVE” saws often as Disston did not want his rejects out in the market. It was reported recently in the Mid-West book on saws that members got before Christmas that a couple had been found hiding in a basement of a Disston worker in Philadelphia. Now I have to reveal my source– a collector in Phila that had collected Disston saws for 25+ years. I am sure these probably came from a Disston worker also. What is defective– a small crack way back at the back of the tooth line– in a space that has no effect on performance and could even be eliminated with cutting off the back 5 teeth at an angle as is often seen on old saws. It is a perfectly straight 26” saw with 8ppi ... moreI freshly hand sharpened. It has a clean saw plate and cuts smoothly and fast. The handle is the 1947 laminated design that Disston experimented with to make stronger handles so the horns would not break off when dropped. And it worked as I have never seen the horns broke on these laminated handles. On the handle is stamped the letter“D” for the“DEFECTIVE” status. An interesting saw that maybe you would like to add to your collection. Yet fine in every sense of the word to be a everyday working saw. Antique/Vintage H. DISSTON & SONS D8 Sharp 11ppi Good Brass Repairable Handle
1896-1917 Antique/Vintage. Iconic model D8 by Henry Disston& Sons. This is a crosscut hand saw and it is a skew-back saw. The medallion is H. DISSTON& SONS PHILADA with the Keystone. The blade is 26" long, it's 2-3/4" at the toe and 7" at the heel. I count 11 ppi and it is stamped with a number 11 at the heel. The plate has a slight twist and discoloration. There is some rust and pitting, mainly on the right side, see pics. The etch side looks pretty good and there are no broken teeth. The teeth are still sharp. The etch is a little dirty but clearly visible. There is a tiny bend(1/8" at the top corner of the toe, barely noticeable. The handle is repairable, the top horn has been cleanly knocked off and there is a small crack from the top bolt forward on the left side. It is a cover-top handle and it's ... moresolid and tight with good brass hardware. It does have dings and scratches that come from use and age. Some of the original finish remains on the handle. I don't know if this saw can be made useable or not. It is a great display piece or gift for the tool collector, handyman, carpenter or wood worker. Vintage Disston 14” Back Saw 13ppi SOLID CLEAN SAW
Here is a very nice Disston back saw. 14 inches of teeth with 13 teeth per inch. I believe it is a No. 4. The handle is in excellent condition. The handle is solid and tight and most of the original finish remains on the handle. The blade is rust free and there is no pitting. I haven't touched the teeth; it is still sharp. The etch is not visible. It is offered as-found in very good condition. Please see the pictures. I don't think it would take too much to fully restore this saw. Otherwise, it's a great display piece or gift for the tool collector, handyman, carpenter or wood worker. VINTAGE WW2 DISSTON 1944 MACHETE WITH U.S.M.C. SHEATH
This auction is for the 1944 Disston Machete with USMC sheath as shown in the pictures and is being sold as shown. The blade measures 18" and still has a slight edge to it.
