Antique/Vintage DISSTON D8 THUMBHOLE RIP Straight & Sharp 5-1/2ppi BIG 28"
1896-1917 Antique/Vintage. Straight, sharp& useable, the iconic model D8 by Henry Disston& Sons. This is a rip hand saw with thumbhole, cover top handle and it is a skew-back saw. The medallion is H. DISSTON& SONS PHILADA with the Keystone. The blade is 28" long, it's 2-3/4" wide at the toe and 7-1/2" at the heel. I count 5-1/2 ppi and it is stamped with a number 5-1/2 at the heel. Laser straight blade with minimal discoloration. There is no rust and no pitting. There are two broken teeth which should not impact usability. The teeth are still very sharp. The etch is complete, clear and sharp. The handle has no chips or repairs. There is a single crack through the bottom of the grip. It is a cover-top handle with full symmetrical horns and it's solid and tight. It does have a few dings and scratches that ... morecome from use and age. Much of the original finish remains on the handle. I don't think it would take too much to fully restore this saw; it is useable right now. Otherwise, it's a great display piece or gift for the tool collector, handyman, carpenter or wood worker. I believe this because I also have two other Warranted Superior saws that have been hanging with this one in my grandfather's garage for as long as I can remember. They all have the hole in the end of the blade by which they were hung. My grandfather was a Freemason and a Tool and Die maker from Reading. MI. His stamp in on the end of two bolts that hold the saw together.

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Up for auction is a vintage Disston back saw. In fairly nice condition. I count 13 points per inch. The blade is 12" long, and overall it is 16 1/2" long. The blade is 4" wide from the top of the steel back to the teeth. The cast steel back is stamped with the Henry Disston& Sons Philadelphia Warranted mark, but the etching on the blade is worn. The wood handle has a bit of wear, but there is no other damage, and it has received a recent application of tung oil. There are no teeth missing. The medallion and screws are in great condition. Vintage Henry Disston& Sons Saw Sharpening Vise Filing Clamp Antique Tool 3D Up for bids is a large vintage saw sharpening vise. This tool is in very good original condition. With no breaks or repairs. It is heavy-duty, with jaws that measure 12.5" long, and have a depth of just over 7" They are in very good condition, showing a few file marks on top. The jaws operate smoothly, and close tightly with the cam lever. This tool has an embossed marking that reads: Henry Disston& Sons U.S.A" on each side. There are holes for mounting a file guide, and the screw hole threads are good. This is a well-made vise that weighs approx 12 lbs. It is built like a tank. And can be be mounted to a bench or table top, using the thumbscrew. The clamp appears to be a replacement, and does not have the"teeth" that are on the vise ... moreitself. This may not be an issue, and it still tightens just fine. Perhaps a large lock washer would be advisable. The vise works smoothly, and is adjustable to different working angles. Using the large thumb lever. This vintage tool has very little of the original jappaning remaining, and is ready for work. Antique/Vintage Pre 1917 Disston No.7 Hand Saw 8pt 26" Crosscut GREAT CONDITION!
Straight. Sharp& useable Henry Disston& Sons early No. 7 model and it is a straight back saw with nib. The medallion dates this saw to between 1896 and 1917. The medallion is all brass along with the rest of the hardware. The plate is 26" long, it's 2-1/4" wide at the toe and 7" at the heel. I count 8 ppi and it is stamped with a number 8 at the heel. The blade is straight with some minor discoloration. There is a very small kink about 1/3 of the way up from the toe, it should come out pretty easily. There is no rust but is some very minimal pin-point pitting in a couple spots. There are no broken teeth. The etch is complete and clearly visible. The teeth are still very sharp. The 4 bolt handle is solid and tight with full horns. There are no cracks or repairs, it has 1 tiny chip off of the bottom of the lamb's ... moretongue on the left side. It does have some dings and scratches that come from use and age. Most of the original finish remains on the handle. I don't think it would take too much to fully restore this saw; it is useable now. Otherwise, it's a great display piece or gift for the tool collector, handyman, carpenter or wood worker. But faint.What makes this more unusual is somewhere down the line 1 of it's owners put teeth on the top edge see photo no. 5& 6. Really unique Henry Disston and Sons Docking Saw. Stainless Steel Blade. Blade is 36" long 6 1/2" wide at the handle and 2 1/2" at the end. Entire saw is 40 1/2" long. It was made from the early 1900's until the company was sold in 1955. Used for cutting timbers to length for piers or mines in harsh conditions so it has a metal handle. The etching says Tenon most others say Docking!

Here is a nice old panel size hand saw from Henry Disston& Sons. The tool is a#7 with a 22" blade filed 9pt. The blade is dark but etch is visible and nib is full. The old handle shows its age with scratches and chips but remains solid. The blade though straight has some pitting spots. One on the cutting edge as shown and another at the the top of the handle. It cuts very well as shown in picture. Not perfect but could be filed and made into a good user. There is a calculated shipping charge based on location. Here is a nice old mitre box saw made by Henry Disston& Sons for use in Stanley mitre boxes. The tool has a 28" blade filed 11pt with 5" depth of cut. Blade remains straight and usable though could be sharpened. The pictures show some free hand cuts in a piece of oak flooring. There is a chip in the wood handle as shown.
