His father's family had lived in Dartmouth, Mass. since about 1690, having come from Sandwich on Cape Cod where they were the first settlers. Mr. Wing spent all his summers in So. Dartmouth ... moreas a boy and, on retiring from the U.S. Foreign Service, purchased his residence in No. Dartmouth. Mr. Wing attended the public schools in Carlisle. Pa. and graduated from Dickinson College at the head of his class in 1948 with an A.B. in history. His attendance was interrupted by wartime service. Following Dickinson, he attended Harvard University and obtained his A.M. in history in 1949 and continued work towards the Ph.D. for several years. While at Dickinson he belonged to Beta Theta Pi social fraternity and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Tau Delta Epsilon. In 1952 Mr. Wing became a military historian with the U.S. Army Chemical Corps and served until 1956 when he resumed work on his doctoral dissertation. In 1957 President Eisenhower appointed him as a Foreign Service Officer of the United States. And he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate. He then served his country as a diplomat for twenty-seven years in the Department of State as well as in U.S. Embassies. Up for auction is a First Day Cover for the 7 cent Air Mail embossed envelope. Scott number UC34, first issued in 1960 in Portland, Oregon. The cachet depicts an early jetliner and is designed by Artmaster. The item itself is in fairly good condition. The biggest flaws are a couple of mildly rounded corners, some wrinkling near the cachet, and a black spot on the back(pictured) Any other flaws with this item should be visible in the attached scans. 1950 Heddon Fishing Tackle 80 page catalog, mail envelope, White Bass fine print
This catalog was saved by my grandfather it is in great condition. The price changes for 1950 that they attached to the first page caused some discoloration to the inside of the front cover show in pics. You will enjoy seeing these 1950 prices. A light crease on back cover shown in pics it should press out. It shows very lightly on some of the back pages, very hard to see, there is no other damage no tears no folds, not bad for 64 yrs old. I try to describe in detail so you know what you are looking at. The envelope is pretty ruff. The White Bass fine print has a tiny wrinkle in top corner. A lot of lure info in this one and a Heddon Liars License. If you have any questions please ask. Thank you for looking.
