Louisiana c1920s The picture shows Celia& Ann"The Ideal Girls" who were likely singers or personalities on a famous well-remembered local radio station called KWEA in Shreveport. Famous as being one of the earliest broadcasters of Television: Paul"The Radio Man" Carriger came to Shreveport from El Dorado. Arkansas in the later half of the twenties(maybe where the mid- western W9 originated from? where he found employment with WK Henderson. The notorious"shock ... morejock" owner of powerhouse KWKH. Henderson hired Carriger as program director of sister station KWEA. A 500 watt local station dedicated to local interests. Carriger ran KWEA which. Under the engineering skills of William Erwin Antony(the station's namesake and longtime KWKH employee) and the defiant Henderson, reached audiences as far away as Hawaii with their illegally boosted signal. Carriger often used the studios of KWEA and its equipment in his programming for W9XX and W5XA which was located a few miles away on the Old Minden Rd. in an eccentric fortress known as Giddens Castle. Talent pooled from his KWEA"Fun Club" such as pre-Shirley Temple sensation Thelma Brewer and handsome Merlin McKinnon and piano playing receptionist Beatrice Fretwell were happy to make the trek out to Giddens Castle often at 3 or 4 in the morning for Carriger's experimental broadcasts. In 1929. He made a successful transmission and reception of images from Chicago. But there is some wear on the bottom as if they were displayed. About 95% of the gold trim is still intact. 1950's Large Plastic Porky Pig Bank Mfg. by Ideal # I-2317
This is a nice porky pig plastic bank from the 1950's mfg. by Ideal toys. The Bank stands about 11.75" tall and about 5.5" wide at its widest point. It is in very nice condition for its age with no apparent cracks or chips but does show some paint loss in areas as seen in some of the the pictures. Also with most glued plastic seams. The glue on the seams has become more apparent thru the years. The bottom of the pig has a removable plastic plate and is marked Ideal l-2317 made in USA. This plate does not fit tightly once it is put back in and is fairly loose on the front part of the plate. This may be due to a missing key and lock that may once have been with this bank. Vintage Pinocchio Wooden Doll Ideal Toy Company
Vintage Pinocchio doll made by the Ideal Novelty and Toy Co. in the late 1930's. This doll stands 11" tall and has a wooden body and a resin(I think) face. The body is in excellent condition with no cracks or scratches and the string in the arms and legs is still taut. He still has his silk bow tie and felt hat. He has a chip at the point of his hair and there is some crazing on his face. Other that that he is in great condition considering its age. This item has been displayed in a closed curio cabinet and it comes from a non smoking home.

The ideal partner for a Beolab system. These are in Rosewood cabinets and in very good condition for their age. Though there are a few light scratches there are no ring marks or signs of abuse. These speakers have been looked after and had one owner from new. One leg is missing it's rubber foot but these are available for pennies. One tweeter has a slight bent to its dust cover and on mid-range driver has a slight perforation. I have shown these in the photographs. These minor defects do not detract from the gorgeous sound of these cabinets. L ovely and warm. Yet airy at the same time.
