TEK 2430 is a DSO from the repairable era(circa 1987. Made same time as 2445A, 2465A, 2467) and cost over $6000 new. It is the predecessor of the 2430A. The predecessor of the the 2430 was the 468. Tektronix 2440 300MHz Two Channel Digital Oscilloscope, CALIBRATED, w/new fan.
Greetings! This 2440 is used and in superb condition. The display processor output and attenuator caps have been tuned to factory specification. And it has been calibrated with a DMM and power supply that both have NIST-traceable calibrations in a lab environment. It is hard to tell from the images, but the display is incredibly sharp, looks like new! The output voltages and ripple were checked via the A13 PCB and were well within spec. Aside from some scuffs and a chip in the left corner of the rear bezel, this unit is in EXCELLENT shape. I did NOT test it any further than powering it up! This is sold for parts/repair since I cannot fully test it! No returns. This can use 115v or 230v. This dual beam oscilloscope is in good shape. Working stable after warming up 10 minutes. It is 400MHz mainframe, dual 1MOhm/ 200MHz amplifier(7A26) dual 50Ohm/ 400MHz amplifier, 400MHz delaying time base(7B85) and 400MHz delayed time base(7B80) Dual beams can show different waveforms in different sweep speed. It's same as two oscilloscopes in the same unit. Following pictures show examples. 1KHz square wave on Beam 1. 400MHz sine wave on Beam 2 with x10 pulled out. Some oscillation on transistor base and collector. In this case Beam 2 is off. 10uS trace is dimmed down, just showing Beam 1 with Amplifier A, ch.1 and ch.2. Amplifier A is using ch.1 only. Beam 1 is on slow sweep(500uS) Beam 2 is on faster sweep(10uS) Delaying time base is triggering time base B with Beam 2. Is focusing 1.431mS after primary trigger by time base A. Similar ... moredelaying operation viewing some unstable waveform. Second wave shifts back and forth. Distance between two varies constantly, causing delayed time base(second wave) not to show stable view. So storage oscilloscope was used to capture pre-trigger view. This is the way how 7844 is designed to change trigger output signal easier than other models. Time base A is controlling next oscilloscope. Two bright spots at top waveform are second and third waveforms. This is very common and convenient function of 7B85 and 7B80 time bases. Demonstration of dual input(chop mode) with different sweep speed. All four channels are shown. Amplifier A is on ch.1 only with 10MOhm probe. Using time base A(1mS) amplifier B is using both ch.1 and ch.2, but triggered by ch.1. Both channes have different frequencies. Amplifier B display mode is ALT. Both inputs are triggered altenatively. High speed sweep by time base B begins to loose left part of drawing. Amplifier A has ch.1 and ch.2 input added together. Two extremes are shown. Scope is in pretty decent condition. The high voltage supply for the CRT is in need of repair so it has been disconnected. I connected the VGA output on the back of this unit to my TV to perform tests and collect the above images. I have tested all 4 of the attenuators against the internal reference as well as the buttons on the control panel and it appears fully functional as long as it is attached to an external video source. You can also purchase a LCD kit to replace the outdated CRT assembly and have a self contained scope. Thanks for looking!
