This unit was fired up with a variac. Minimal hum and actually sounds very nice with the KLH tuner connected up. Pilot light works. All tubes are matched Sylvania. Heathkit AR1214 Stereo Receiver - Works !!
Quite a testimonial to Heathkit that this receiver still functions well. Tested only the FM tuner and it worked great. Both speakers worked. The dial lights are bright, little noise in the volume pod. The sound was clear& clean. Cosmetically, the cabinet is in pretty darn good condition for its age, about 8 out of 10 overall with a pretty clean faceplate. As with all vintage stuff. Selling as is. Please do not expect perfection. I did no further testing other than FM. A rare find in vintage receivers.

Old, rusty on top of the transformer, and unmodified. It will likely need to be modified(some newer components, caps etc. for more reliable service. I used this many years ago for 3 years. Not the perfect finish. 401 altec lansing speakers. somewhere around 1956 on the speakers. a little later on the cabinet. the story I have is. it is a heathkit H H C 1 box. it was in a movie theater in Detroit mi. bought by my father in the early 60's. by the time he got there to pick'em up. was only one left. not sure why someone would buy just one. the reason the legs are missing, they were sitting on a ledge in the theater. legs were not used and did not come with the speaker. clearing out the house. they need to go. sorry, I will not dissemble them or ship it. must come and pick it up. This is one of a group of these rack mount type components I have listed this one is a Pre Amplifier/ Control Center. This amazing unit has more features and controls thn I have time to describe. Ranges D and E do not change frequency with dial rotation. This sounds like a weak or bad capacitor or some other simple fix.
