Up for auction is a working Heathkit model XR-1P transistor radio being sold for parts(front grill has a crack. Top locking lip broken, has a large crack in back cover, missing screws + other case issues) I believe this radio is a circa 1958 item, being a slight variation from Heathkit’s first transistor radio(XR-1) that featured a built-in handle. Due to battery corrosion, I clip-lead tested this radio with an external 9 volt battery. I found this radio receives many stations and plays loudly with a built-in 4 x 6 inch speaker. Since the case may not repairable. The chassis could be transferred to a non-working XR-1P(the battery corrosion would need to be cleaned up + re-alignment) Alternately. A Heathkit IT-11 Capacitor Tester made in the 1960s in perfect working condition. Also known as the IT-28 which replaced the IT-11 in 1968. They are basically identical testers. Cosmetically in very good condition with no major scratches. Dings, etc on the body of tester. The only defects are the scratches someone intentionally etched onto the silver face of the four knobs(see photo of knobs) It will accurately test all different types of capacitors both electrolytes. And non-electrolytics. It uses a magic eye tube which quickly opens and closes when you reach the correct farad reading. The eye lights up bright green(see photos) when open and on the correct test value, and then quickly closes if you go pass the correct value, it's very sensitive, and gives you a very accurate reading. It next tests for leakage. As you increase the voltage. ... moreThe eye will quickly open and stay open on each increment, if the cap is good. If the eye doesn't open you know it has leakage and is no good. Starting at the lowest voltage on the scale, the eye will quickly open and stay open if the cap is good. It goes up in 50V increments until you reach the voltage rating for the cap. With these two tests. You will quickly know if the cap is good or not. It is very simple to use. It comes with a photo-copy of the users/owner's manual. And two short 3" alligator clips to quickly change-out the next cap you want to test. It will be packaged very well with lots of bubble wrap. This board has potential. It appears to be an unfinished Heath kit version of the Jaguar(tone generator boards are stamped Heathkit) Power supply and voice tabs are mounted in place. Tone generator boards need to be mounted and plastic keys need to be attached to metal brackets. 11 tone generator boards are in good condition. The"G" tone generator board is cracked. It should be glued together. The traces can be jumped, and several resistors need to be replaced. 45 of 48 plastic keys are included. It has to organ top, but does not have legs or hinged cover. Model# IG-52-Compared to the same models on ebay there appears to be two extra parts on the bottom that is not on the others that I see. I am really not sure what the difference is but wanted to note that. There is also an extra piece attached to the bottom right- just an electronic component. It is in acceptable condition. Some scratches. There is some dust, and the knobs are dusty in the slots. The cord looks good but it there is spotting on it. To get the generator fully cleaned you will have to take the knobs off and do a thorough cleaning. I have not opened the inside but I am sure there is dust in there as well. This vintage Heathkit IG-42 RF signal generator serial# 095645 has been refurbished and is in good physical and functional condition. It has a frequency range of 100 KHz through 31 MHz in five bands controlled by a front panel band switch and a frequency control. I replaced the(3) filter capacitors. 7) paper capacitors, and cleaned all switches and potentiometers. All the tubes tested well within specs. I observed a good RF signal across all bands on my oscilloscope. The meter can be zeroed as shown in the first and second photos. There is no 1.5 volt battery installed. Both vacuum tubes glow when it is turned on. I picked this up at MARC swap meet several years ago.
