The parallax bar and the case, I beleive this is the model ST4, it is made in Switzerland ... morenot Singapore like some. During my initial inspection this appeared mint, upon very close inspection I was able to find flaws, they are: a tiny spec of debris in one of the eyepieces, and some light deterioration of the large mirrors only at the far edge(seen in photos) The mirror issue seems to be far enough at the edge that it cannot be seen during use, and the little spec of debris in the eyepiece could be removed if you opened up the eyepiece and carefully cleaned it. Also the case has issues, the glue holding the foam inserts in has dried up and the inserts come out now(can be fixed with more glue) and the handle is only attached at one side. Other that that this set is excellent and the eyepieces are clean and free of fungus or haze, veiwing through the unit is super sharp. You can pick the item up yourself and avoid all shipping& handling costs. If you have any questions at all about this item please feel free to email me and I will write back as soon as I get a chance.When Cleared Payment is received I will ship the item the next day or at least in a couple of days. FYI The pictures that you see are of the actual item you will receive I do not get my pictures from web sites or other peoples auctions. This is a prism target set for land surveying. The prism offset is 72 MM. Very high quality and great condition. You get what you see in the photos for pennies on the dollar of the new cost. Thanks! This rectangular EDM reflector was designed for the electronic distance meter WILD DI3(telescope mounted) Distomat. The centre of the reflector sits 38 mm above the tilting axis(as the Wild DI3 sits 38 mm above the telescope axis(line of sight) of thehost theodolite. The froint face of the prism is 94 x 46 mm. The rectangular shape is required because the front lenses of the transmitter and receiver of the DI3 are side-by-side and have each a diameter of 35 mm. The range of the original DI3 to this prism was given as 300 m minimum in 1973(and 400 m in 1975) For longer distances( about 600 m in 1975) The triple-prism reflector GDR11 was available(see ... moreitem 0420) The host theodolite is pointed to the yellow triangles underneath the prism before any distance measurement. Wild Heerbrugg Prismatic Astrolabe Attachment#1 scientific instrument SWISS We offer the smaller of two scarce Prismatic Astrolabe Attachments offered this week for a Wild Heerbrugg instrument. The Harvard University Collection of Historical Scientific Instruments has an example in their collection. Their catalog description notes that"t his device. When attached to a telescope(or theodolite) is used to determine the altitude of stars, and hence ascertain time measurements and find the longitude and latitude of a location.the] Artificial horizon(most likely mercury) and very accurate beam splitting prism[are used] for astronomical delineations of time or position. It has a circular bubble level attached on the side of the artificial horizon. The prism is mounted on three leveling spring screws. The round"disc" you see in the ... morephotographs is actually an" extremely shallow concave copper surface which provides a'beach' for damping vibration. The round cover protects this surface while in transit to and from the jobsite. This example has a prism which is 1 3/8 inches wide and whose copper"dish" is 3 inches in diameter. We've included an eyepiece that we think belongs with the attachment. The dish appears to be copper. And someone has tried to clean it in the past. I think with some copper polish it would clean up quite nicely. The green paint finish on it shows minor wear, but it appears to be in working condition.
