Based in Milan, for the construction of optical instruments and measurement, especially for topographical and geodetic use. In 1870, the company was joined by Salmoiraghi engineer Angelo, who had been a pupil of Porro at the Polytechnic of Milan. These Filotecnica transformed into a competitive, even expanding the productive sectors. Initially, rather than a real company it was a"school-workshop" whose production was limited to experimental pieces, or at most only played in very few examples. Signed: La Filotecnica Salmoiraghi serial number 46919 made around 1890. Nice telescope with bubble level(bubble level is great) Focusing and over three screw tripod mount stand. Minor surface wear and tiny dust particles inside the lens that would not affect performance. This piece is antique but only shows little signs of wear from use and storage over the years. All the knobs and dials work very smoothly as intended. The lens are clear and clean without fungus inside, no scratch or whatever and the focusing of the scope is smooth and precise. I did see something on the internet that said it possibly made in the early 1900’s. If anybody has any good info on dates of manufacture, I would love to hear from you. This one has 8 different tools, accessories or attachments for the transit mounted inside the box, including the original unusual shaped plumb bob. The original wood box measures 14-1/2” x 7-1/2” x 7-1/2” Scope measures 8” long. All magnifying glass’s for the verniers are intact, they might need some cleaning. The cross hairs are intact and visible along with the only leveling bubble. There is no broken glass on this. E.R.WATTS& SON MK II BALLOON THEODOLITE Ex RAAF In excellent working condition but the black paint has come off in places exposing the copper/brass body of the instrument In original box This is the 2nd version of a series of instruments in the meteorological services of the British Commonwealth They were designed at the the Meterorological Office in collaboration with E.R.Watts& Son Ltd 5 different models were produced MK I through MK V The Mk II had mechanical improvements on the MK I instrument. A telescope gear that was directly driven by the micrometer tangent screw was added in this model as opposed to driving the circle and connecting this trough a bevel gear to the telescope. In comparison to the MK I this instruments. And later instruments have a different housing to encase the large telescope drive gear. The MK II had color ... morefilters that fit over the objective rather than the later models where the filters fit over the eyepiece. The instrument has a variable focus objective. The battery box is built into the instrument. The micrometer drums can also be read from the rear of the instrument so that a second observer can log the readings while the primary observer can keep the theodolite trained on the balloon. In common with other land based balloon theodolites it has a telescope with a bent optical axis Like the vast majority of balloon theodolites the image is inverted. All Watts theodolites feature micrometer drums that drive the circles with tangent screws. The tangent screws and micrometers can be disengaged for rapid motion and positively re-engaged for accurate tracking. This scale has both horizontal and vertical markings. There are adjusting knobs for raising and lowering this scope. ESTATE FIND Up for auction is a Model T-202 Theodolite surveying transit made by Path Industries in Japan. This transit is in nearly pristine condition. I would rate it a 9.9 out of 10. The only detractors are a few tiny paint dings(3 or 4) I took a photo of the worst ones. Picture#9 showing the cross hairs appears blurry but the lens is crystal clear. I could not get my camera to correctly to show the actual clarity of the lens. The same thing happened when I took the pic of the front lens, it appears hazy for some reason, perhaps the reflection from the lens coating? Comes with the factory case. Wild Heerbrugg NT1 Mining Theodolite with diagonal eyepieces and Travel case
Wild Heerbrugg T1 Mining Theodolite dating from about 1955. It has both diagonal lenses. One for the eyepiece, one for the microscope(seen attached to the bottom of the canister, circled in the picture) It comes in a travel case which is in excellent condition. There is a small dent on the top of the dome on the canister, see the picture. Normal wear for its age. Missing the knob cover for the removal from the tribrach however. It still functions fine. All pictures are the actual item being sold.

Very Rare Thomas Jones Theodolite Transit marked 62 Charing Cross. London, England. Good to very good overall condition. This will be sold as shown. Not sure if anything is missing from the instrument. The glass circle is intact and the magnifiers are present. Telescope crosshairs are not present and the optics are dirty but not broken. Likely predates 1850 and is in great shape for being over 160 years old. I have had this for many years and hate to see it go, but need to downsize my collection before we move. Aquired over ten years ago. Jones. Thomas(1775–1852) Maker of scientific instruments. Was born on 24 June 1775, eldest son of William Jones and his wife Catherine, née Nicoll. Probably in the parish of St George, Hanover Square, Westminster. He was apprenticed from 1789 to 1796 to Jesse Ramsden of Piccadilly, the most eminent ... morescientific instrument maker of the day, who declared that Jones was‘the most ingenious and the most assiduous’ of his many apprentices(L. Dutens to J. Banks, 4 Dec 1800, Royal Society Misc. MSS 8.24) Jones continued to assist Ramsden until the latter's death in 1800, and he subsequently developed and wrote on several instruments which had originated in Ramsden's workshops. With his brother, Jones worked for private customers and for the trade, in particular for Edward Troughton of Fleet Street, who succeeded Ramsden as London's master craftsman. Troughton also thought highly of Jones, and his recommendation secured for the younger man several of the prestigious commissions which Troughton declined in his old age. Jones always traded in Westminster, and had no need to be free of any guild. His first shop was in Mount Street, off Berkeley Square, where he was in 1806. BEAUTIFUL EDWARDIAN STANLEY DUMPY THEODOLITE LEVEL IN BOX WITH ORIG INSTRUCS.
Early antique Edwardian Stanley dumpy level in magnificent condition a real gem they do not come boxed this old in any better condition. This mode is the Stanley U500 and comes with the original 100 year old instruction booklet. This excellent instrument is a real piece of art and in such nic e condition could still be used today. The box is solid wood and the accessories are still within the box too. Excellent condition and really beautiful display piece would look great on the shelf of a Sueveyor’s or Engineer’s office. Will be sent signed for insured.
