The barrels are stamped with details of the makers and model type. There is a focussing scale around the central pivot and one eye piece has +& focussing. On the front end of the binoculars there are two deep engraved"broad ... morearrows" and a further etched mark and around the central pivot it has a stamped number: S2-23023" The binoculars have a neat leather case with'velvet' lining. Condition/ Defects: The binoculars are generally in very good condition- but do require a bit of repair. The lenses do focus and the eyepiece adjustment focus also works well. BUT the eyepieces do not seem to screw on to the screwthreads- and require some sort of repair. Also one lens barrel can be pulled out of the body and needs fixing somehow. They have general wear to the enamelling, consistent with age and use. The lenses are very dusty inside. The shoulder strap is a little fragile and has partially ripped across. Sandwich Flint Glass (?) large compote "prism & sawtooth" pattern, c1850-60's
Sandwich Glass( Flint, large open compote"prism& sawtooth" pattern, with"waffer" construction, c1850-60's or so. Couldn't find this pattern in my books, but I do believe it is Sandwich Glass, based on the pattern characteristics and the stem for the compote. The compote is about 9.56" tall and 10.375" wide. There are no cracks or chips. There are bubbles, inclusions, and raised glass thread lines, typical of the glass factories during that time period. There is one large bubble inside a top scallop. See photo 8. Note: on a small few of the sawtooths there are small fleabites from use and storage, although they are not easily seen. They are 3 way lights, and work perfectly. All of the black crystals are here. The large bottom crystals are detachable. Vintage Nikon F Standard Eyelevel Prism Finder Type 3 F2
A good prism. Fits the F& F2 bodies, but was included on body numbers between 6432843 and 6756056, if you're a true purist. The viewfinder is bright and clear and it locks into place securely(springs are still strong) There's a bit of wear. But no major dings. There is a dent and scratch on the F, the eyepiece frame took a scrape, and there is some spotting in the prism silver, but it doesn't effect the image view. The glass that goes down(ground glass side is perfect, the outer eye side glass has some cleaning marks.

When you look inside one of these instruments. They look like new. The seals were so good, I never see any moisture. The lubrication looks like new(whether it has been serviced or not) and the machining was so good. There is little if any wear on the metal parts and the EDM's have an excellent record of reliability. I still do a few jobs a year and I always keep one of these excellent Japanese Total Stations around for my own work. The difference between the Topcon GTS-301D and the GTS-301. Is the 301D has horizontal and vertical compensation while the 301 has vertical compensation only. If either the horizontal or vertical limit moves outside the compensation range. I have never used the meter, but the contacts are clean, never had the battery, so the meter is untested& is as-is. best-or worst of all, it has snakeskin? leather covering- there can't be many of these around.
