Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Ortholux I Microscope Lamp Housing for lower light port
This lamp housing inserts into the lower light port of the Leitz Ortholux I microscope. If you intend to use this in the upper light port. An adapter tube will be necessary, since the microscope upper port is more narrow than the lower port(a poor design feature on Leitz's part) This lamp housing is in very good condition cosmetically. The exterior paint appears to have slight cracking in it. But it is not peeling. The interior of the lamp housing does have some oxidation. The diffusers inside the lamp housing are intact and in fine condition. Electrically. The light does work and has been tested, however a 6 volt, 30 watt lamp is NOT included in the auction. very old. needs TLC from someone who knows about these things. Very rare. Doesn't have any cracks in the base. Or glass/lenses. Dials twist and unit moves up and down in a few places that it is supposed to, but I didn't mess with it too much since I am not at all familiar with this. From research I believe this is about 80 or so years old. It was used at a college. It comes with some other parts which aren't pictured, 2 tubes, some arc carbons, and a couple of discs. Here is a lot of 4 vintage Microscope lights/lamps/illuminators. One is an AO American Optical(the one with the extender arm) and the others are Nikon. The Nikon lights DO have their bulbs and the bulbs work. The AO does not have a bulb. One of the Nikon bases has a small chip. But it should not affect how it works. One of the Nikon has a plug in on the cord, the others will need a plug-in added or it will need to be hard wired to a power supply. These worked when I spliced them to an extension cord and plugged them into a regular 110v outlet. I believe these are from the 1960s, but I cannot say for sure because they are not dated. Vintage American Optical Model 361 Lamp This v intage American Optical Model 361 microscope lamp is used. The lamp has been maintained in good working and cosmetic condition. The lamp is rated to contain a regular 60 Watt light bulb. The lamp has a translucent frosted blue filter measuring approximately 2.5 x 3.5 inches. The outside of the filter is nice and clean; the inside surface needs cleaning. Switching the lamp on produces a light that does not appear too attenuated. A curious feature to the lamp is a thin metal flap hanging down from two screws from the top of the lamp housing. The base measures approximately 5.5 inches square.
