Up for auction is Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar f=50 mm 1:3.5 lens. Serial number is 3250518. It is a leaf shutter coated lens. Shutter number is 1460953. I have no idea which camera it belonged to. It looks that it was manufactured after the WWII. Its mounting flange has threads diameter of 25 mm(or 0.9843” and thread pitch is 0.5 mm(or roughly 50 ¾ TPI) There is no jam nut for this lens. The leaf shutter is fully operational at all speed settings. It was recently cleaned and lubricated. The aperture control is fully operational too. Optical elements are clean and free from haze. Mold, dirt, dust, or scratches. They had been cleaned too. Two dots you may see in lens pictures are actually 2 air bubbles in optical glass. It is normal for old lenses and they will not affect a picture quality. I have mounted this lens on my Nikon EM camera using ... moreNikon-Leica screw mount adapter and then I used Leica 5 mm extension ring and made 0.5 mm shim washer and held the lens tight to the camera. After that I set a shutter speed index at B position. Pressed a release lever and fixed it in open position with scotch. I checked camera focusing at infinity and it was OK. Then I mounted the lens on my Nikon digital camera and made several pictures from the balcony of my apartment at different exposure settings.

Up for sale is a legendary and most sought after Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 2.8/20 MC 20mm f/2.8 wide angle lens. It's the widest lens in the M42 lens mount era and it was well known for it's superior optic. It's razor sharp. Germany style of contrast and high resistance to flare. Closest focus distance is only 19cm! Red MC indicated that it's an early model(the best material used) and was sold only within the Europe. I posted two photos that I took with this lens and I believe they could tell you a lot about it. I took the photos with Nex 6, slightly cropped and deepened the color and that was it. Mechanical: in PERFECT condition. Period. Focusing is silk smooth and precise, turning resistance is not completely equal throughout the range by it's design. Aperture ring moves with beautiful clicks on 1/2 of f-stop. No oil ... moreor any issues on the blades, just perfect. Optical: Perfect. Perfect coating, no scratches of any kind, no cleaning marks nor fungus, not even any obvious dust specs in between glasses. Like new condition. Cosmetic: Perfect. Only some black paint worn off on some tips of the focus ring due to normal usage. A scratch on the serial number, other than that, there are practically not much signs of use. The lens comes with both caps(though they're not tight fit any more after all these years) and original leather box. I will only ship USPS express(about $35) to international buyers.
