Which is the more modern machine It comes with a 3 Jaw Chuck with chuck wrench(See photo) Taper Attachment with anchor lock It has a 10" 4 Jaw Chuck with reversible jaws It comes with four tool holders Steady Rest 3 point clam shell type Threading Dial These usually sell on the net between $2.000. and $3,000. Motor Mechanics Hand Book No. 33 is 32 pages and dated 7th edition. Jan 1934. Cover pages show wear and small tears but the inside is perfect. Also includes cover letter with N D Jackman signature in mint condition. 3.Southbend 9-Inch"Workshop" Lathe bulletin No. 33-D is 22 pages and dated 8-19-36. Excellent condition and includes return postcard to request further information. Features all the possible 9-C lathes and options. Also a few pages on the 13" and 16" lathes. 4. The 8 page color foldout brochure No. 33-G is dated 5-7-37 and includes 2 cent post paid card to request further info. The center foldout section opens to 4 pages wide and ... moreshould be mounted. Framed, and hanging in your shop! 5. How to Run a Lathe BOOK is 128 pages and dated 1954. Light wear and some dirt on the covers but the inside is near perfect. No greasy fingerprints. 6. I'm also including an original South Bend pocket gauge for grinding and setting tool bits. This is in excellent condition.

South Bend Atlas Logan Lathe 3C & 1A Adjustable Collet Draw Tube & Spacer (1290)
3C& 1A Lathe Collet Draw Bar Tube with Adjustable Handle& Spacer Sleeve Sweet little set-up. The handle can be positioned anywhere along the 13" tube by means of 2 set-screws. Some surface blemishes as can be seen in photos. Threaded for 3C& 1A collets. Length of max exposed tube is approx 11-1/2" Spacer sleeve is 1-1/2" long OA x 15/16" dia(1-1/8" dia at the flange) Solid handle is 3-1/4" dia. The handle end of the tube is also threaded on the OD. Looks to be 3/4-20 TPI. These OD threads are beat up and would need to be chased& cleaned up. The ID 3C threads are a little worn at the very end. The test collets threaded in about 1/2" before hitting a hard spot. Threads should be chased for best results. I'd do it but I don't have the 26 TPI tap. Safety First! These gears have never been on the machine. They show etching from sitting around for 50 years. I got this lathe new in I think 1967 and never used these gears.

A used set of back gear guards for a South Bend 9 inch lathe. This is the older style that does not have a hinged cover for the bull gear plunger. There are some rub marks from a misaligned belt rubbing. Those are not easily seen in the pictures due to the fresh paint.

Feb 3, 1942 South Bend Lathe Program and 3 U.S. Navy E Awards Lot
This lot includes an original program presented to employees of South Bend Lathe Works on February 3. 1942. The award of the United States Navy Bureau of Ordnance was presented to employees for their participation in the war effort. The corresponding pins that were given to select employees are included in this lot. The first E pin is marked Sterling. The second is marked Sterling on the back and has the date and South Bend Lathe name. The last two pins are marked with the Jostens name, who manufactured the pins. The last 2 pins and program came from the same estate in South Bend, Indiana. Everything is in exceptional condition.
