5" 3-Jaw. 1 1/2 x 8 mount Union Mfg. Co. No. 6627 Lathe Chuck. This chuck is used and shows some signs of age-dings. Scratches and a little bit of surface rust on the bottom. The jaws move freely, but sounds like it could use a good cleaning. This piece came to me along with a bunch of Shopsmith related items. But it's clearly not a woodworking chuck. For Sale South Bend Lathe. Model C. 9 inch swing. Every thing works on lathe- including auto travel- comes with all cutting bits and tools. Leather drive belt is also included, but can be substituted with a rubber serpentine belt from the auto parts store, cut to size and overlapped/glued together with tire tube glue or joined with wire like the leather belt. 115v Motor is old and works fine but can also be substituted with another more modern motor. Lathe has a 3 and 1/2 foot bed. If you'GOOGLE' on the internet about the lathe, you can get more information about it. Lathe has been stored in a storage facility for 6 months now and has developed minor'surface rust' that can easily be polished off and re-oiled. Lathe also comes with three chucks. Very nice South Bend Light 10" Model A, lathe. It has a rare 54" gap bed that allows it to swing right at 15" It comes with a fair amount of tooling including a taper attachment, steady rest Jacobs No 14 drill chuck, live center, dog plate, lantern tool post, tool holders, 5" 3 jaw and a 6" four jaw chuck. 1 1/2" by 8 spindle threads and 55/64" between 3/4 and 7/8) through hole. The serial number indicates it was manufactured in 1960 and I don't believe it was ever more than a home shop machine. No apparent wear on the lead screw or bed. It runs quiet and smooth. Comes on a heavy duty stand. I could deliver it within 150 miles of Yreka, CA for a nominal fee.

6" diameter Falls 4 Jaw Chuck from a 9" South Bend Lathe, 1-1/2" x 8 Mount / USA
A local company is in the process of re-locating its machine shops and maintenance department. As a result. Any unused, obsolete, surplus, or duplicate machines and accessories will be disposed of. As the equipment is released for disposition the items will be offered for sale. I will do my best to provide an accurate description but sale is final, so please feel free to ask any questions that you might have. Offered here is a 6" diameter Falls 4 Jaw Chuck which came from a 9" South Bend Lathe. The chuck has a 1-1/2" x 8 mount so it should be suitable for use on other model lathes such as Atlas. Craftsman, or the 10" South Bend model 10-K. There are a few tight spots on some of the jaws. Although I am not 100% certain it looks as if the jaws should be removed, the scrolls cleaned and lubricated, and then reassembled. By ... moremy inspection I do not see any physical problems.

You are looking at a very good condition and ready to use backing plate likely for a 4 jaw chuck. It is. As you can see in the pictures, an original South Bend plate. It is roughly 5 1/8" diameter and has a 1 1/2" by 8 tpi thread. The raised area on the face measures about 3.81"almost 3 13/16" across. You can see in the pictures that it has several nicks and scratches but it is still very strong and solid. Depending on your work this would also make a good mounting face plate. HAND LEVER CROSS SLIDE SOUTH BEND LOGAN SHELDON ATLAS LATHE
Here`s an old hand lever cross slide. I don`t know what it fits but maybe someone can use it. With a little work it could turned up and made into a milling attachment for a lathe. The bed area on top is about 3-1/2" x 11" the v`s are 4-9/16" on center, the bottom is about 5-3/4" x 4-5/8" It has a gib with four adjusting screws, it slides back and forth about 3-1/2" and with the handle off it will move quite a bit more. Agrippa Sleeve Boring Bar & Tool Post for South Bend Model A Lathe
This heavy duty Agrippa boring bar- 3/4"x11" comes with a very unique tool post to fit the Model A 9" South Bend compound rest cross slide. The post and bar are from the kit of a long dead and gone Connecticut River Valley machinist who probably made it as a high school shop class project. It worked. He kept it. Used it, and passed it on. The knurling is kind of sketchy and the hole for the receiver is 1/32" off center, so the pieces only go together one way and the bar has to go in as shown in photos. Tightened down, the unit couldn't be more rigid. The photos show the bar dead on center in the lathe. Not just a great old tool but a conversation piece too. South Bend 16/24 3 Leg Lathe
Used and working well South Bend 16-24 Precision lathe originally made for the army corps of engineers around 1951. Factory spacing blocks gives this lathe a better than 24" swing. Lathe has a taper attachment with it. Lathe has an upgraded Baldor 5 hp. 3 phase motor. Lathe also has the seemingly rare"A" leg configuration. The serial number seems to indicate that this is a 16-24. Quick change gearbox, special. The catalog number indicates a 4 cone pulley, 6' bed, 30" between centers, and a crated weight of 2480 lbs. We didn't find any discernible runout on a tool we chucked up. There is a gib screw missing, I think it is part number PT219TH1. Old Ready Brand Small Metal Lathe Straight Tool Holder South Bend Atlas 3/16"
You are looking at a good original condition and ready to use straight tool holder. This is a good and old one made by the Ready Tool Co from Bridgeport Conn. As you can see in the pictures it is a No 00 holder. It holds insert tooling of about 3/16" You can see in the pictures that the shaft has several nicks and scratches but it is still very strong and solid. The tool holder shaft size is about 5/16" wide and slightly less than 9/16" tall. The clamping bolt works tightly to hold the insert bit in place securely.
