I don't see why this tool couldn't be used as a rotary tool, carving tool, any job that can use a 1/4" bit spinning at 30000 RPM(according to the motor data plate) In fact, the motor data plate calls this a HD(heavy duty) Power Unit. It has some heft to it(2 pounds 12 ounces) and feels good in the hand. Add a foot operated speed control and you would have a very versatile unit.
