This is an early 1950s vintage promotional mailer from"Western Merchandise Exhibitors" advertising for several trade shows during August 1952 on the west coast. Of special note is the front cover featuring a stylish"voodoo" image. The mailer measures 5 3/8" x 8 3/8" Four pages, on thin card stock, and was mailed to a California hardware store. EXTREMELY RARE. 1978 STAR WARS BENEFIT CONCERT FOR MARIN WALDORF SCHOOL. Performed by Maestro Hugo Rinaldi and the 100 Sounds Of Space Symphony. This item I have is a"flyer" that was sent out in the mail to promote the 3 concert series and sell tickets. The front has original artwork done for the Concert ONLY by Ralph McQuarrie. There IS a full. Actual signature next to the printed name of McQuarrie and it is my understanding that he DID sign all of these in support of the Concert. The signature is different than what we see from him later on. However, this was done in 1978 and has similarities to his other autographed items done later on(the"R" is the same as is the"U" etc) I have never seen this piece available anywhere. Obviously they were mailed, thus many were damaged, and people not interested would have ... morethrown them out. Also at the time, Star Wars was just a"baby" so I would guess the collectability of many of the SW related items was not there yet, leading this to be tossed out. This is 36 years old and in overall beautiful condition. No creases or folds, slight yellowing and some(hardly visible) spots on the front in the dark part of the print. Here is a short write up about the Concert, it's history and purpose. Written by David Reinstein in 2007. Fox released the initial film in the series that was to follow. Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope in May 1977. It became. Almost instantly, hugely successful- skyrocketing its producer, Gary Kurtz, and writer/developer, George Lucas, into the highest stratosphere of filmdom.
