The maps were distributed by the Esso Touring Service and are in the original mailing folder. The maps are"Northeast United States. Southeast United States, and"Central and Western United States. Each map is double sided. They measure 34 by 24 1/2 inches open, folding down to 8 1/2 by 4 1/4. The maps are not dated, but population information is from the 1940 census, and in New Mexico the town of Los Alamos is named, a top secret installation during WWII that never appeared on a map until after the war. These are original oil company road maps published in the late 1940's. Not reproductions. CONDITION: The maps are in the original mailing folder. An original vintage tourist mailer containing 19(20 listed on mailer but only 19 inside) tiny 3"x4" postcards of movie stars homes- Judy Garland, Abbott& Costello, Bob Hope, etc. and famous movieland locations in Hollywood like Grauman's Chinese and studios. It dates to the mid-1940's based upon the homes listed for the various stars and the cars in some of the images. It is in excellent condition with little if any wear on the little box/mailer and none at all on any of the cards. They are all pristine with perfect corners. Vibrant colors still, and no wear at all. It's about 3" x 4" in size and was meant to be addressed and mailed like a letter. I have had several of these over the years but never one in the original mailer. Unused and like new! I collected this in Iowa, but it is addressed to Conimicut, RI. The mailer notes it is a nut chopper from Planters Peanuts, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. and the postage was 4 cents. Also in the box is the instruction sheet and on the back an order form for the nut dish set(Every housewife should have a set of Planters Enameled Nut Dishes" and the Mr. Peanut Mechanical Pencil(with a patented feature that shows Mr. Peanut himself floating around on Top.No member of the family should be without one. The nut dishes were 30 cents for the set and the pencil was 25 cents. Nice piece of advertising history. You can see the paper was folded small, has some rough edges and browning.
