Cased Green Shade Emeralite ? Bankers Desk Lamp With Inkwells and Pen Holder
I salvaged this lamp base literally from the scrap heap. Its taken me a whi le to find all the correct parts and lots of Google research to put it back together as correctly as I possibly could. Here is an antique b ankers or desk lamp I think made by Emeralite. There were some faint numbers stamped into the cast iro n weight in the bottom. But I could not make them out. I bought the shade from a reputable dealer as Emeralite. Although the sticker is no longer there. Its old and nice thick glass. Goodness knows I paid Emeralite prices for the shade alone! My camera does not capture the true color of the shade. With the flash, its shows too green and without the flas h it shows too blue. The shade has that classic Emeralite cast of being green with a slight bluish tint to it in reality. T his was unwired when I got it. So I rewired it and ... moreits good to for many more years. Proper cloth covered wir e. Round bakelite plug. This was missing the 3" glass inkwells, I found them finally, bakelite lids, one for red ink, one for black ink. They have the criss-cross pattern on the bottom but are unmarked. This was missing the little calen der on the column. I finally found one of those too. With all the cards making it a"Perpetual Calender" Inkwells and Calender are all from the 1920' s. And date to the age of the lamp. When this was apart. I found no hint that this was ever brass plated, like I see some are when you google pics of this type lamp. So, I matched the old gold color that I found when I s tripped it to bare metal. And then lacquered the entire lamp. This was alot of labor. But I enjoyed saving this lamp from been lost. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking here. Take a close look. Cased Glass s hade s ize is almost 6" W(front to back) x 8.75" L by 3.5" tall. Over all the lamp is 1 6.5" tall and about 10.25" wide. Up for your consideration is this vintage mechanical coin bank that was a promo from the Chicago Trust Company which was located at the southeast corner of Monroe and Clark Streets in downtown Chicago. The bank is a chromed metal and has NO key. It was manufactured my Bankers Utilities Co. in San Francisco California circa 1950? The bank is in pretty good condition for its age. On the reverse side is a stamp in the metal that says"thrift pays dividends. There is a ding in the middle of that and there is the usual wear of a piece of this vintage. The chrome still shines nice and bright and it has no rust. A nice overall piece! Shipping cost reflects shipping to lower 48 United States. The first booklet is dated 1956 and shows Sparky the Fire Safety Dog. This is a 3 fold booklet that measures about 6-1/2" inches in length. And shows very little age or wear. I see no rips or tears on this gem, and I see only a few spots of age. The other booklet is slightly smaller, and contains 3 or 4 pages of Christmas Carols sponsored by the Bankers Life Insurance Company. Cased Blue Shade Emeralite Style Bankers Desk Lamp With Calender and Pen Holders
Here is an antique I would say Arts and Crafts style b ankers or desk lamp. Unmarked except for the numbers 269 stamp ed into the cast metal base. I bought the vintage( High Top) Vianne Marine Blue shade for this. Vianne has gone out of business. So these shades are becoming very collectable. No one makes them as close to the originals like Vianne did. Beautiful blue when lit. T his was unwired when I got it. So I rewired it and its good to for many more years. The old bakelite pen holder were broken. So I bought replacements made of metal. Pens shown are NOT included. They are not mine to sell) This was missing the little calen der cards. I found them. Now with all the cards, its a"Perpetual Calender" Calender cards and brass frame are all from the 1920' s. And date to the age of the lamp. When this was apart. I found no hint ... morethat this was ever brass plated, all I found on the bottom layer of paint was a dark bronze over steel. So. I matched the old color that I found when I s tripped it to bare metal. And then lacquered the entire lamp. This was alot of labor. But I enjoyed saving this lamp from been lost. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking here. Take a close look. Cased Glass s hade s ize is almost 6" W(front to back) x 8.75" L by 3.5" tall. Pair Of Reverse Painted Antique 1920's ALADDIN Bankers Piano Desk Lamp
Here is a pair of antique Aladd in"The Wonderful Lamp" r everse p ainted 1920's Bankers Piano Desk Lamps. Being sold as a pair. I will not sell them separately. Solid cast metal bases. The 2 have exactly the same base. Marked Aladdin Muncie IN underneath. The Wonderful Lamp Stickers are still on as well. The taller lamp had no shade when I bought it. And then finally a reverse painted one came a long that actually kind of goes with. Or flows with the original old shade on the smaller lamp. The taller one's shade is more detail ed though. It does have a minor chip on the left corner. And a very small fleabite chip on the right front corner, they are nothing to freak out about though, I am OCD when it comes to damaged ligh ting in my home. And they dont bother me. But, I do intend to take the lamp to The Art Glass studio here ... morein town, to get the owner to at least acid etch the tin y spots. So it will not be as noticeable. Once etched. The spot will blend in much better. H e may have even better ideas. He has worked with glass for over 50 years now. Im recovering from the worst flu of my life, and havent been able to get down there yet. But I will this week. The smaller lamps shade has no damage. Fleabites. Nor chips, its in great sha pe. I rewired both for safety so they are good to go for another 8 0 years. I re-wired the shorter one with a round bakelite plug and correct twisted cloth cord. Then I ran out of that wire, so the taller one has modern brown wiring. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking here. Take a close look. Shade s ize on tall lamp is almost 9" W by 4" tall and 6" deep. Over all the lamp is 1 8" tall and about 10" wide. Shorter lamp's shade is 9" wide by 3.25 tall and 4" deep. Over all it stand 10" if you were to point the shade straight up. Which would look ridiculous. In normal position the lamp is about 7.5 inches high. I am pleased to offer this Vintage Bankers Portable Table Lamp in good shape. Works Great. Chain Swich Works good. Nice Banker Green Milk Glass Shade look great and has no Cracks or Chips or Scraps and is adjustable. Brass Finish Base shows some age and patina and use. A few small dents and wear. Original matching cord and plug look good and work great. Stands about 13 inches tall x 10 1/2 inches wide. Made by Underwriters Labortories with no made in mark. An amazing mixture of metals on this antique lamp.Age.Use,many years of polishing,and some not too cautious refinishing attempts have givin it a patina and look that really works great.It had been spray painted blue by someone,Not me!and it was with that new style spray paint that is mostly solids.It was not pretty and a mess so I carefully stripped it only with brush and cloth.It revealed what seems to be copper on brass,It has a couple little dings that show up more pronounced in pictures than they really look It does work and some of the wire is fabric wrapped old so it really should be rewired.I am leaving it this way as the wrapped wire helps reflect its age,as if the design doesnt enough.The socket had been replaced and the cord also from the push button base.I am not sure what the metal is on the base section.Lamp shade is 9 1/2 inch ... morewide and 5 inch deep.

On February 11th. 1947, Eric Lewis serviced his first home made photo cachet, Scott# 945, the Thomas Edison issue with 4 known covers. Most of his covers were pencil addressed to his relatives, friends or to himself. His next known issue was the Scott# 949 Doctors issue. He continued making photo cachets for most Scott numbers through the George Eastman issue. Scott# 1062, for which he made both photo and silk screen cachets. I have a large double door Diebold floor safe. It has four fixed steel wheels supporting it. The dimensions are as follows: Exterior height 61 1/8" Width 42 3/4" depth 27" inside including the shelving areas height 50" width 33 1/4" depth 18 1/2" Shelving area height 5 1/4" width 16" depth 18 1/4" Sizes are approximate. Between 1910 and 1916 The Victor Safe company used Bankers Dust proof time locks on their Cannonball safes and this lock has 3"special" 15 jewel 16 size Illinois movements. The three movements have been fully rebuilt by a professional bank safe repair person who has many years as a clock maker and servicing time locks and movements for banks and they are fully working and set to time and original in all respects. There is great info on these locks in the book"American Genius" and some NAWCC bulletins. The case is original and has an excellent paper instruction sheet on the inside of the case door. There is a small ding in the case door as seen in the photo but this does not effect the door operation or the open and closing of the door and could ... morebe smoothed out. This auction includes an extra case with a plastic cover that can be used to display movements. Also included is a rectangular chrome mounting plate that fits around the movement. Mr. Turner, received his early educational training in northern Iowa, whither he accompanied his parents in 1865. He was a child of but twelve years of age at the time of his father's death and at that tender age was obliged to leave school in order to help support his widowed mother. As a youth he drove a stage coach through the wild and rugged country of the west, later taught school and for a period read law, and at one time was storekeeper. In 1887, when twenty-four years of age. he decided to follow a profession and at that time went ... moreto St. Paul, Minnesota, where he secured employment with the Thomson-Houston Electric Company, Incorporated. He remained with the above concern until 1889, when he was sent west by that house to take charge of its business in Portland, Oregon. After putting that business on a firm business basis he took charge of the company's sales agency at Helena, Montana, remaining in that city for the ensuing two years. In 1892 he came to Butte, where he took charge of the predecessor's interest of what is now the Butte Electric and Power Company. At that time the business of this concern was of very modest proportions compared with its present magnitude and importance. Under Mr. Turner's management, however progress became marked and from a comparatively small concern it branched out, embracing a large part of the state. This expansion involved the investment of many millions of dollars, and with the passage of time the business continued to spread and prosper. Mr. Turner resigned from the general management in 1910, retaining his stock interests and representation on the board of directors. This auction is for a vintage W& H Co. Newark, New Jersey single blade advertising pocket knife from a local estate. The pocket knife measures 2" long closed. It has a steel frame body with an internal backspring. The body of the pocket knife is marked"Kentucky Bankers Ass'n, Louisville 1923" There is a small hole in one end of the body where the pocket knife may be attached to a keychain or pocket watch chain. The blade is marked on the tang"The W& H Co. U.S.A. Newark, NJ" This would make a great knife to add to a collection or to restore or repair. Please see my listings for other items.
