The generator provides RF signals unmodulated(CW) Internally modulated or externally modulated through a modulation function switch. This generator has been refurbished to include replacement of the 2 filter capacitors and all the paper capacitors. The newer style BNC connectors have been installed. I also cleaned all potentiometers and switches. Using my Tektronix’ 465 oscilloscopes. I observed a good sine wave across each Band. THIS BID IS FOR A VINTAGE Heathkit SG-8 RF signal generator. THE FIRST PICTURE SHOWS IN THE UPPER LEFT WHAT LOOKS LIKE A DENT BUT IT IS A GLARE FROM MY CAMERA. I PURCHASED THIS FROM A VERY NICE 96YEAR OLD MAN WHO TOLD ME IT WORKED GREAT BUT OTHER THAN THAT AND THE FACT THAT IT POWERED RIGHT UP WHEN I PLUGGED IT IN IS ALL I HAVE TO GO ON. I have not used it beyond that. However based on how nice the unit is cosmetically, I don't think there should be any issues with this unit. He also included the cable cord. This is the Heathkit SG-8 Signal Generator. A vintage vacuum tube instrument that was manufactured from 1956-1961. A description& specifications from the Heathkit catalog is shown with the photos. The SG-8 is in very good cosmetic condition. With just some light wear to the original paint. The faceplate has excellent lettering& scales. And all original knobs, switches, and connectors. See the photos for details. The controls all rotat e smoothly through their ranges. And the test tone could be heard when set to various frequencies on the AM band. Approximate date of mfg 1958-1959 came without test leads- no paper work/ manual but plenty of FREE ones online goes from 160 kc to 550+ mhz Face plate in good shape so are knobs biggest issue is case 60+ year old paint flaking off here and there. But not bad. A few drops of white house paint here and there but should come off easily came from the estate of an EX HAM radio operator who had a bunch of Heathkit stuff. Here’s an unusually well preserved example with a front panel that looks factory fresh. The instrument was recently serviced, and the old obsolete Amphenol output connectors were replaced with BNC type that will be much more compatable with today’s cables and adapters. Components inside are looking fine with no signs of swelling or discoloration, and the generator has been recently tested. Generator will prove to be a valuable instrument to have when aligning radios, etc where you can switch in the on-board modulation circuit or externally modulate a signal on top of the RF signal. RF signal is adjustable from 150 KHz all the way up to 220 MHz in five adjustable steps on the band selector. ... moreSmoothly geared tuning condenser has great stability, and the dial index mark accurately points to the proper frequency calibrations. Photos of the electronics will show that this unit has a neat layout on a copper plated chassis, and interior is quite clean without corrosion. The unit has been tested, and the signals are present at all frequencies. The audio test signal is working as well with a very clean sine wave output. Modulation circuit works as well, and it was interesting to have a radio nearby to listen to the beat note and whistling as the IF and RF frequencies were being matched. Cosmetics are superb overall with only a few faint scratches on the gray textured wrinkle finish. Nice Heathkit SG-8 Signal Generator - Works - For Alignment of Your Radios
Nice Heathkit Model SG-8 RF Signal Generator. Powers up and produces an RF output signal. Tested at 1400 KHz and 100 MHz by listening for the generator output on a conventional AM/FM radio. Knobs and switches all move freely. No other tests were performed. This is a solid. Versatile workhorse that is well suited for aligning your vintage Zenith Transoceanic and Grundig Satellit AM/FM/Shortwave radios. Auction includes generator only, no probes or manuals are included. However, it appears that other sellers are currently offering the correct probes and manuals on eBay so these items should not be too difficult to acquire if desired. Frequency coverage from 160 KHz to 110 MHz. Provides AF Input, AF Output, and RF Output terminals.

This sale is for a 1956 Heathkit SG-28 signal generator. Maual, 3 pictorial sheets, and 2 cables,one not in photos, but the same kind of cable) This item is in excellent condition with several very minor scratches. The manual has some light edge wear and pencil checks as the owner completed each step. The pilot lamp lights up when turned on but its untested, so I've listed it as for parts or not working. The digital frequency lights up but I don't know how to test it further. Both come with manuals. The power cords appear to be original in good condition.
