South Bend 9" Lathe Saddle and Cross Feed Screw off 1939 9C Fits 9A 9B 9C (& ?)
This is the saddle with feed screw from a compound tool assembly rest from a 1939 South Bend model 9C lathe. It should fit other models as well. It shows it age appearance wise. But the machined ways are very clean and smooth. There are two things to note: a) The speed knob on the feed screw handle is bent to the outside a bit. I did not try to bend it back straight. b) Note in the last two pictures that the feed screw collar needs to be adjusted so it sits tighter. As it is currently. The feed screw has room to slide out slightly before the inner collar catches on its stop. It is this gap which creates backlash. However by adjusting the collars correctly, backlash should be able to be minimized substantially. This lathe is being parted out. So there are(or will be) other parts listed for sale. South Bend L00 long taper lathe spindle for Heavy 10 10L chuck RARE!!
Up for sale is this South Bend L00 long taper spindle. This spindle will fit the South Bend Heavy 10 lathe. 10L. This L00 spindle was an option($$) when ordering a 10L and is infinitely better than the more common threaded spindle. With this spindle you can now run your lathe in reverse without the fear of the chuck spinning off. In addition, this spindle is much more accurate than its threaded counterpart. This is in good condition with no excessive scaring or galling on the spindle journals. This is just as it was removed from the lathe, I have not cleaned it. This was very smooth spinning when I removed it. This is ready to install and use right away. No extra parts are needed to install this in place of a threaded unit. VERY NICE 1/2 HP FORWARD REVERSE MOTOR & PREWIRED SWITCH 4 SOUTH BEND LATHE
Very Nice- Lesson 1/2 HP. 1725 rpm capacitor start 110 volt with pre-wired forward and reverse motor switch. Unit was mounted to a South Bend 9" lathe countershaft assembly. The original South Bend two step motor pulley that is on the unit was damaged, as shown, by attempting to remove. Possible set screw broken off, but it does not appear that way when looking in the set screw hole. No visable damage at all to shaft. Motor runs quiet and cool. Shaft is 5/8" diameter x 2" long. The wiring appears to be professionally done. All cords and connections are newer and cords are very flexible and in excellent condition. Cord from motor to forward and reverse switch is 5 1/2 feet long. Cord from the forward and reverse switch to the 110 volt cord cap is also 5 1/2 feet long. Forward and reverse motor switch makes solidly in all three ... morepositions. Bolt mounting pattern is 3 5/8" to 6 1/8" front to back slots. 3" side to side on center. Very nice prewired motor unit. EXCELLENT FLAME HARDENED ORIGINAL SOUTH BEND 9 10K LATHE BED 3 1/2' - 42" LENGTH
Hard to Find- Excellent Condition- Original South Bend 9" 10K 3 1/2 Foot Flame Hardened Bed with original rack and leveling leg set. R etains original badging. Which is very nice. Bed is stamped"DDB102KG" on the rear rail and"40788K" on the forward rail. No imperfections on bed rails. Bed was lightly cleaned up with oil. Unit does clean up nicely. Any dark areas that are seen are nothing more than built up grease, which does break down. Assembly was removed from a newer model South Bend 10K underdrive unit. Excellent Condition. Lathe bed is shown on a metal bench. Which is not included. It is just being used for photos. This auction is for a lathe spindle thread protector. Fits a 1" x 10 tpi spindle. I'm not sure if this is factory or shop made but it's quite heavy duty and has a nice knurled edge and hole for a spanner(not included) The sizes etc. are shown in the pictures.
