This will measure moisture between 5% and 30% to a depth of 3/4" I will need a new 9v battery. The included operating manual has species conversion tables for hardwoods. Softwoods, and popular exotic species. You read the meter and go to the conversion table to determine the moisture level for the particular wood you are checking. This is a fast device and can be slid over boards to check the entire piece and you can see the moisture difference on knots verses clear areas of the board. Because it measures down into the wood it truly reflects the average moisture content of the board, not just the surface which would typically be drier than the inside.

They provided Dressed and resawed Cottonwood, Gum, Oak, Ash, Sycamore, Cypress, Maple and Elm lumber. There is a 1917 calendar inside the front cover, a table of weights of Hardwood Lumber, A ready reckoner which provided a table for the determining how much different sizes of material you could get from different lengths, table for Doyle's Rule on Round Logs, Sales code and definitions of their products by wood type. Also weights and measures tables. The notebook as pages for daily entries. There are several pages with entries mostly people's names and a few numbers. Picture copyrighted B.D. 1933, Thermometer in working condition The Becker Lumber Company was founded in 1913 on Congress Avenue in Austin by German immigrant Hermann Becker. Who owned a restaurant on East 6th Street at the time. The Becker family also had connections with the William S. Porter(O. Henry) family and acquired their homestead in1929. He originally donated the property to the Rotary Club. After changing hands through successive donations, it was given to the City of Austin in 1934 when the City Council agreed to turn it into a museum. After Hermann's passing. The family donated 3 acres of his estate to Austin's school district and Becker Elementary School was opened in 1936. vintage lumber log wood ice tongs - Heavy Duty
This is a set of tongs that is marked Gifford Wood Co. on both sides. I assume this was used at the Gifford Wood Co. saw mill or in the forest to move logs. There are no other markings on it. These are very heavy-duty. They weigh 3 pounds 3 ounces. The diameter of each handle at the widest diameter is 7/8 of an inch. When fully opened. The jaws are 15 1/2 inch from prong to prong. When closed, they are 1 1/2 inch distance between prongs. This has some insignificant rust on them which I removed with a soft bristle wire brush. Then I wiped them down with WD-40. This is a great set of tongs for moving logs or firewood which is what I use my other two pairs for. Will also be great for lifting large slabs of ice. Or if you just like, hang them on a wall for the character and atmosphere they will create.

It is a Dewalt made with a Black and Decker saw. It seems to be in good condition. I plugged in the saw and it worked great. I can not speak to the condition of the saw blade. I have not used it.
