Super Sounds Perfect Prices. Item Description. Up for auction is a Hickok model 752 dynamic mutual conductance vacuum tube tester. Many of you who are real tube aficionados will instantly recognize the brand-name Hickok. The big Hickok"laboratory" models. The 752 series and the 539 series(along with the military version of same, the TV-7 model) are widely considered the most durable and accurate testers ever sold to the general public. They were also sold to the US Government by the thousands, to be used in critical applications, such as planes, tracking equipment, etc. so you know they had to be built to work, and keep working. There are many stories out there, some apocryphal, I'm sure, about these testers surviving floods, mud-slides, extreme rust, extreme heat, you name it, then being plugged in- only to find out they still ... moreworked. Oh, make no mistake, they do and did break down- but it usually took a lot of use and/or abuse to cause that. This tester has some very nice features. Including a test for(relative) remaining tube-life, the ability to test dual-triodes without changing settings, the ability to set exactly accurate plate-voltage that the tube was designed for, the ability to measure the tube's reading in micromhos, test and measures shorts and leakage in the tubes, and much more. One thing it will not do: it will NOT cook your dinner for you(you need a significant other for that) well, maybe it would cook your dinner ONCE- but then, you'd need a new tester.Seriously, though, this really is considered a professional unit. This unit was sent to the well-known Roger Kennedy of All Tube Testers dot com. Who inspected, cleaned and calibrated it in May of 2014. It is in relatively decent condition cosmetically for an instrument which is more than 50 years old. This is a very nice Hickok 800A. Which is the later and more desirable of the 800 series. The case is very presentable, though has some normal wear. The tester deck is quite nice and crisp detailing as you can see in the pictures. The electrical condition is excellent and has been recently calibrated and tests very close to my Dan Nelson calibrated TV7’s. In the pictures. You’ll see line voltage being set and then testing a 6L6(tube not included) T he roll chart moves well from end to end with the typical Hickok tightness at the either end. You’ll have to look long and hard to find another 800A in this nice condition and surely have to would pay much more. The 800A was purchased as a backup and since I don’t normally use it. Hickok 605A Tube Tester and VOM. In good condition. Tubes are included and tested good. The unit can test tubes that don't use the octal socket. So it is working. The octal socket was replaced by a previous owner and was not wired in correctly. started work on pin 1 and 2. But the remaining pins need troubleshooting. The case is a bit worse for wear. But is functioning, it has been repainted to cover scars in finish. Cosmetic condition of the unit itself is good. This 605a tester also has a VOM section. Picture 10 shows a 6L6 calibration tube with Gm of 5475 being tested with accurate results. But does not line up with the 6K red dot on the shunt dial. The mark is at 86 1/2 and should be at 85 or a little above 85 as seen in picture 11. The 3000 mark should be at 31 as seen in picture 12, and the 15000 should be right on 93 as seen in picture 13. Close up pictures of the dial can be seen below as to where the dial should be marked for accurate calibration. No marks were made on the English/Shunt dial. But according to Hickok's calibration procedures, a new mark should be made on the dial for calibration. The marks are not very far off and any new marks made on the dial will be up to the buyer. The 5y3Gt is Hickok labeled and tests as good as new. And the 83 is a NOS JAN RCA, and both are well balanced. The tester has the original cord which is in great shape and pliable. You are bidding on a VINTAGE 1933 Hickok tube tester! This Diamond Point Jr. tester measures approx. 11 1/2" x 9" x 7" And has the serial number of 64167 on the back name plate. We had no way of testing this, but we did plug the tester in, and the needle on the bottom left hand side moved up to center. All the knobs and buttons seem to function and work. The cloth cord has a bad spot(wear/cracking) and should really be replaced. This does have some damage to the plastic round center plate(chip off the top and bottom edge) as you can see in the photo, and some wear on one side. Still overall good shape. Hickok B&K Tube Tester Parts-Replacement 83 Rectifier
Offered here is a modern day replacement for the type 83 mercury vapor full wave rectifier tube used in most Hickok and Military tube testers as well as the B&K 650 and 700 tube testers. They can reasonably be expected to last for the lifetime of the tube tester. In addition. The two diode sections are closely balanced to each other and should remain that way for the life of the tube tester. Most mercury vapor rectifiers age in an unbalanced fashion. When tested, one side is found to conduct better than the other. This unbalance affects the calibration of the tube tester. The 83 mercury vapor rectifier is the most problematic component in most tube testers. This substitute eliminates the problems common with that tube. This is a plug-in replacement for the glass 83 vacuum tube. Just remove your glass 83 vacuum tube and put this one in ... moreit's place. No other modifications required. One of the pictures show a good 83 glass tube being tested on a Hickok military TV-3 tube tester. The last picture shows the solid state replacement being tested on the same tube tester. In the same socket with the same settings. Since there are no tungsten filaments, this solid state replacement reduces the load on the tube tester's transformer and eliminates the heat generated by the glass original. In an unventilated case, the heat can build up when the tester is on the bench turned on for prolonged periods. No hot filaments in the modern version. If you need more than one. You probably already know about Hickok, and their tube testers are among the most popular with vintage radio geeks, audiophiles, and old school musicians with their Fender Deluxe Reverb amps and what not. So. If you're hobbying around and found a Hickok 531, and the tube roll chart is either missing or severely damaged, this is your lucky day, because I have one for sale! This item was sold to me as part of a completely different tube tester. And not having a Hickok 531, I don't need it, ... moreso it should go to someone who does! The paper. Of course, is yellowed, more at the ends than in the middle. I wound it all the way from one side to the other and found two holes through printed lines, and one part missing from an edge(probably from silverfish or moths where it was stored) I took pictures of both holes that involved numbers, and the data on the chart is still useable. One hole is over the filament voltage for one of the parts of a 1H5G, a triode diod. The filament voltage for the triode is 1.5 Volts, and it's common with the triod, so. 1.5 Volts! That one's easy. The other hole is between two lines for different stages of a 70L7GT, and you can still read both numbers(12 and 7) There may be other holes that I didn't notice. But that's how it is with old paper. While writing this. I decided to scroll it end to end to make sure I can tell you the rest of the paper is good. The top end is still taped to the roller and looks OK for it's age. The bottom end, however, I can see is very brittle and starting to come apart, so I stopped scrolling immediately, and put it in a box. So. This calibrated Stark Model 12-22A Dynamic Mutual Conductance Tube Tester is probably the hardest vacuum tube tester to find. It tests both European and American Vacuum Tubes along with Selenium Rectifiers. Transistors and Diodes. Stark was the Canadian subsiduary of Hickok and made electrically identical tube testers. Using the Hickok circuits, but with a somewhat different appearance, and a lot wider range of sockets. The quality is second to none. The bias pots etc. feel very healthy. Function switches look and feel great. Both are somewhat bigger than their hickok counterparts. To allow for the extra sockets. A Stark 12-22A Users Manual. Calibration instructions and a Hickok Consolidated Test Data Manual is Included. Both the Hickok 533A and the Stark 12-22A use the same 2.5 Screen Voltage so they share the same Tube Testing Data. Resisters ... moreand Capacitors were checked and replaced as necessary. The 83 Mercury Filled Rectifier Tube has been replaced with a perfectly balanced solid state replacement. The 5Y3 tested new and balanced. This tube cannot be replaced with a solid state replacement without loosing accuracy. Calibration double checked with 6L6 and 6sx7 Calibrating Tubes. Then Tripled checked matching tubes on a Calibrated Hickok 533A.

Up for your consideration is a Hickok 533a mutual conductance tube tester. This example has been very well cared for and is in excellent physical and operational condition. I have provided 11 15 megapixel photographs for you to evaluate. I tested a few known good tubes and they tested on par with my calibrated 539. That being said I do not calibrate or repair tube testers so I can not offer a warranty of any kind on the calibration of the tester but it does work an seems to work well. R&D INSTRUMENTS 1575/ WESTERN ELECTRIC KS-15750-L2 TUBE TESTER REBUILT AND CALIBRATED ONE YEAR WARRANTY Offered: R&D INSTRUMENTS 1575 TUBE TESTER. This is the latest commercial version of the BELL LABS/WESTERN ELECTRIC KS-15750-L2 designed by Hickok. Since only those associated with Western Electric could buy their KS-15750. The R&D Instruments version was created so others could buy one of these testers. The R&D 1575 and the KS15750-L2 are identical; the only difference is the faceplate right above the roll chart. This KS 15750/RD 1575 is essentially a Hickok 539B/C with higher grade parts and with TWO ADDITIONAL meter ranges so it could test some Western Electric tubes more accurately than the original 539B/C circuit. NOS tubes. With high gm but low bias, like a 264/864, for example all showed up as rejects on my 539C. I ... moregot a box of almost 100 sealed Hytron VT-24/864 tubes from WW II and every one was a reject on my 539C; Luckily I knew enough to use my R&D 1575 which had a meter interval not on the 539C specifically for these tubes and they then gave a spectrum of normal readings for NOS tubes. A feature that makes the 539C(but not the B) one of the most sought after testers is the 2 external leads that allow the technician to read plate current on an external multi-meter. These leads were never added to the RD 1575-KS 15750 version of the 539C and to overcome this shortcoming we added a digital plate current meter to this tester near the main analogue meter. Now plate current can be read simultaneously with gm. This new meter has its own little power supply and maintains complete independence from the original tester circuitry. When I match tubes. I use plate current(or current draw) first and then gm to make pairs. I cannot imagine a tester without the ability to read plate current. This tester is in nearly perfect cosmetic and electronic condition. This tester was rebuilt and calibrated by C.G. Industries in Florida. They are one of the best labs I have ever found. Works, it is shown testing a known strong 6L6GC. Tests 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 pin tubes for shorts, gas, and quality, including: 1L6, 2A3, 5AR4(GZ34) 5V4, 6AS7, 6CA4, 6CA7(EL34) 6BM8, 6BQ5, 6DJ8, 6EU7, 6FQ7, 6SN7, 12AT7, 12AU7, 12DW7(7247) 10, 45, 50, 83, 6550, 7025, 7027, 7189, 7199, 8417, KT66, and KT88.
