This lovely antique sterling silver mesh ladies purse is a very elegant piece with a daintily engraved frame. Ball clasp and a pretty chain handle. Made in Germany, it's marked inside the frame as'Sterling' and bears a'butterfly' maker's mark, haven't identified it but it's found on other well-made purses, etc. in both silver and gold; the the other side is engraved inside with"Annie Baldwin Dec. 25, 1913" a special Christmas gift for a lucky lady. A nice size bag, the approximate measurements are: 5" across frame and 10" along the bottom of the mesh, so it drapes nicely; 5" from the top of the frame to the bottom of the mesh; the chain is 16-1/2" long, so if held at the center point, the top of the frame hangs about 8" below; there is a small loop inside to attach a change ... morepurse or other small accessory. It's in very good condition, with a lightly oxidized surface, the mesh is fairly dense and feels wonderful in the hand; the frame hinges and clasp work well. Though not really noticeable, and the bag must be examined carefully to find them, there are a few missing links, one area is along the bottom, another near one hinge and a couple of extremely small spots on one side(please see pictures) The weight on my digital jewelry scale is 199 grams(7.02 ounces or 6.4 troy ounces) Free shipping within the United States is offered for this item. I have a very lovely antique mesh purse with a MPD mono and mesh PA'D Sept.7 1909 Ger. Silver 2 inscribed on the inside. The hinge and clasp works fine and there are no dents or wear to the frame. I haven't cleaned the silver. But I believe it will clean up nicely. The design with flowers and other details is wonderful. There are 2 small repairs on the mesh, not very noticeable. It measures 6 1/2 by 6 1/2 inches plus the chain. Beautiful antique piece! It has buttons up and down the front and back that allow the form to be adjusted to different sizes. The tag is fragile but still in tact. The rods that are supposed to hold the form in place are missing and it currently just hangs from the bar across the neck. Some of the tabs holding the wire together are corroded. Moreso toward the bottom of the form. It stands 49" from base to top and the form itself is 32" tall and 31.5" around the waist.
