If it's like most of them then I'm seeing others having measured their s as being appr oximately 13” x 8” x 4.5. I'm not a WW1 expert by any stretch of the imagination but all indications are that this is a World War I Ammo Box which was used to hold 30 caliber rounds for the Browing M1917 Machine Gun. If you know otherwise do let me know. I hope the condition is very evident in the large detailed photos that I posted above. The box appears to be in fantastic condition to me. I've often seen people say the joints on these boxes are ... moredovetail but I was told by a friend they are actually"finger joints. The finger joints on this one are nice and tight. The hardware on the box is in fabulous condition and it latches perfectly. The leather handle appears to be original and I have been careful not to handle it by the handle. So all in all this one looks to be very nice but if you can see otherwise then please do go by the photos that you see because what you see is what you will receive. These are all of British Women War Wokers- the first time women in Britain had actually taken jobs that were traditionally men's jobs. The photos are wonderful, and as you can see from the enlargements, several of the women are wearing their War Service Badges! I particularly like the one of the three women on the barrel of the 8 inch Howitzer! The Holiday Card is a wonderful two-sided affair, with the thanks of the Vickers Company on one side, and a panoply of Allied flags from 1915 or 1916 on the other. All items are in excellent shape. eBay Note: These are tripod parts only. NOT gun parts. You are bidding on a new old stock(NOS) dial indicator azimuth assembly that are used on WWI and WWII Vickers machine gun tripods. Frankly these are as rare as hen's teeth in new condition and difficult to find in used condition. Often missing from the tripods or damaged from poor handling. This one is slightly dirty from 70+ years on the shelf but is in excellent condition both finish wise and operationally. This one will polish up beautifully. I just did not want to clean it so the buyer can see it in original condition. Most Vickers tripod indicator assemblies will not rotate properly as the dial indicator rings and mount pieces get damaged over the years since they are made of brass. This one spins like butter.
