U-boat escape apparatus Draeger tauchretter with goggles and oxygen bottle .
You are bidding on one of the rarest Kriegsmarine item one can own. An original German World War Two draeger tauchretter escape apparatus! This is a brownish color rubberized canvas vest that was used as a life jacket and when used under water as a rebreather to escape from sunken u-boats. The vest is in beautiful condition with no rips or repairs that I can see. Just some minor age soiling on the fabric. This, in my opinion would be an excellent display piece and would be very hard to upgrade from this. Though this was designed by the draeger firm this tauchretter was made by Auer as a sub contractor and has a faint black ink stamp Auer logo. See pictures for the logo stamp, KM acceptance stamp with the eagle and faint serial or work order number. This auction is for the canvas vest. Steel oxygen bottle, bottom spring clamp to seal the tauchretter ... moreand the all important and rarest part the mouth piece with rubber hose. There is no scrubber can with this auction as they were made from steel with a caustic soda lime mixture that ate away the metal over the years! The rubber goggles are somewhat stiff and hard with cracking in several areas, I think they would look good laying flat on display. Frail but original draeger goggles! The steel oxygen bottle was very rusty on the outside and has been repainted blue. The valve knob works and you can screw open and closed. The crotch strap is most interesting as this has a pressed on stamped sheet metal end tab to prevent fraying. This type of tab was used only for a very short time before eliminating the metal tab and just dipping the end of the crotch strap in some type of shellack. This tauchretter is from the Joetauchretter collection and this very same vest can be seen on the web site joe-tauchretter.tripod I do not think you will a nicer tauchretter! This unit is very good shape for it's age. I do not know the exact date it was manufactured but I have a usage card showing in was used on 2/4/1964. It only has one air canister with it. Manufactured by Mine Safety Appliances Company in Pittsburgh. PA Catalog Number B-84600; Serial number is 566. Mask is still pliable, not dryed out or cracked. Case is made of wood with metal trim and corners- has a few minor blemishes but still looks new. Leather handle has marks on it but nothing out of the ordinary. I am selling my Oxygen AR.31 in-line skates. Which have been about three times out(and yes, fell enough to put scuff marks on them as seen in the pictures) This is an incredibly solid skate, and I am sure will be lots of fun for an owner that knows how to use them! I am a US size 10.5/11 and they fit well. Neither too tight, nor two big, and given the internal(and removable boot) and the plastic shell(the skate proper) have both laces, and that the buckle has several positions, the skates can be tightened to order. The removable shells have not been walked on. And as you can see from the photos, the insoles show no wear, and even have their original size stickers(on the bottom) in perfect condition. WW2 Original Luftwaffe issue 3 point oxygen mask. The Auer type 10-67. Gr.2 black rubber mask& convoluted hose, with copper socket ring to the end, together with a alloy, swivelling crocodile clip, the mask has a main webbing strap across it, elasticated with internal springs, having D rings at the ends to attach it to the helmet and a single,thin webbing strap with a flat hook that attaches to the top of the helmet, interior of the mask is lined with chamois leather. This was the main mask in use with the luftwaffe during the war, along with an improved version, the type 10-6701 and the early fighter type 10-69. Original mask displays well with a S101, W101 or a N101 helmet.

This is a WWII US Army Air Force(AAF) A very interesting grouping which i ncludes the leather pants. Wool shirt, leather hat and the oxygen bottle with the carrying bag. All items are In very good condition. The pants are medium size. All lather construction with a wool liner. Type B-1. One side has a slit on the leather which measures about 1 1/2 inches in length. Complete with the suspenders. Manufactured by the Perry Sportswear company. US AAF white paint stamps are found on the front of the pants and the center of the suspenders. The shirt is made of wool. Small size. The hat is made of brown leather and has a wool liner. The construction matches the pants. Small size. US AAF stamped. very hard to find. The shoes and mannequin are not included.

ORIGINAL US ARMY AIR FORCE LEATHER FLYING HELMET WITH OXYGEN MASK HOOK This is an interesting piece. I can only guess. I'm far from any kind of authority on Air Corps stuff, but the Air Corps wings stamped on the outside of the helmet say, US Air Force" and the one inside the helmet was stamped, Army Air Force" but someone inked out the"Army" I can only take a wild guess that this was reissued after WWII when the name changed and the pilot using it didn't like any reference to'Army' Anyway, this helmet is in great condition and I believe it is an A-11 flight helmet but not sure. There is what looks like a name tag sewn over the description label so I cannot see what the size or date of this helmet is. Again, the tag sewn over it is also very faded so I cannot tell if that was the pilots ID tag or perhaps ... morea reissue stock number. I assume its the pilots name tag. I can say that I believe this is a size 7 to perhaps a 7-1/8 sized helmet. I tried it one but it doesn't fit me and I wear a size 7-3/8ths. Its a little small for me. Well there you have it. The liner is in great condition. The ear pads are not worn out and the leather is nice and in great condition, as is the chinstrap. Remove the cloth tag and the tag underneath should clear up most of the mystery. I will also combine auctions and accept local pick up. However. USAF Jet Fighter Pilot Flight Helmet SET that I picked up at a recent estate settlement- the proprietor stated this was her sons and he flew fighter jets for the USAF in the mid to late 1980's. So this set would come from this time period- I am a novice, but even I can tell it is in excellent, original condition- very clean- it is a Gentex helmet with visor, oxygen mask, communication gear, headphones w/ communication, helmet bag with patches(excellent condition with many pockets) map strap, high visibility belt and even 4 packs of motion sickness bags- I left the name label on the helmet, but can easily be removed if desired- I cannot locate the size of the helmet, my son wears a 7 1/4 hat he tried it on and it fit him well(medium/large? it looks like it is adjustable(see pix#9) I obviously cannot test it out, so buying"as is" ... morenot that I would expect anyone to actually use it- it would make a great display for a collector- one of the headphone ear cushions has a tear at the seam(easily replaced) it is a great set and I will let the pix tell the story- when will you see another complete set in this condition?
