Beautiful Japanese Lacquer Round Lidded Box & 5 Nested Trays Gilt Flying Cranes
This listing is for a Beautiful Japanese Lacquer Round Lided Box& 5 Nested stacking fitting Trays. All with raised Gilt Flying Cranes designs hand painted in great detail. Each of the five trays and the lid are decorated with two cranes in flight. Intricately painted with gold lacquer paint/ gilt on top of black background. There is a tiny speck of orange paint on top of the bird's head. Also on the rim of the trays, and box. The trays stack on top of each other. And fit in the box perfectly. All in excellent condition with minor loss to the orange paint on trays rims. The trays are 4 3/16 inches in diameter. The box is 4 5/8 inches in diameter and 2 inches in height. Remnants of possibly a foil tag along with other tag remnants as shown at base all of which should clean with alcohol if so desired. A great addition to your Oriental ... morecollection. Japanese Ginbari Cloisonne Footed Covered Bowl Vase with Three Cranes- A/F Beautiful. Deep red ginbari enamel with three cranes over dimpled and bamboo etched silver foil. Fairly large broad shape at a pproximately 7 3/4" tall by 6" wide. Very very piece. Condition is well used- fair to good with some handywork and cleaning needed. The top piece has a very small dent to the metal edge and hairline in that area. Displays fine. There is a scratch to the metal inside surface of the lid. The base section has quite a few hairlines around the top edge where the top was repeatedly placed not so gently. Smooth to the touch. Hard to see unless up close, but are numerous. Inside lower bowl needs polishing, but should be fine. The piece stands straight, but the base is loose and needs someone smarter than I to tighten. Sold with no reserve ... moreand in As Found. This is a beautiful work of art. The colors are bright and the embroidery is beautiful. I believe the main figure is Shou the god of Health, he is holding what appears to be a Peach and he is surrounded by flying Cranes They are all beautifully done. The main figure has a large Crane Below him. The Embroidery is on board and then framed with a gold Bamboo design. There are a few nicks on the frame but not very noticeable. The background color is what I call a pale green/gold look. The frame size is approximately 31 3/4 Inches X 22 3/4 inches not including the hangers.
