Black Smith made from a farm implement cutting blade. The Old Black Smith would never waste any good quality metal and would take the time to produce something useful from it. It is 17 3/8 inches long and the blade is 11 1/2 inches long and 1/8 inch thick. Very well made for the method of construction and just the right weight for parting chickens or turkeys. Holds a very sharp edge and is very sharp now so be careful don't cut off a finger. Excellent balance and weight. I got this one from a butcher that wasn't afraid to use it. So it has been maintained and sharpened professionally.
