Antique Davis-Bournonville Brass Oxygen Welding Regulator 1917 Gauge Steampunk
This is a very nice antique high pressure oxygen regulator gauge made by the Davis-Bournonville Company of New York and Chicago. The Davis-Bournonville Co. was one of the early pioneers of the oxy-acetylene cutting and welding process and equipment development. Oxygen and acetylene mix was first demonstrated for cutting/welding in the early 1900's and was soon developed into a major industry with a number of major players. Davis- Bournonville being one. This classic regulator gauge is dated by the patent date shown on the gauges of July 31, 1917. It is in great shape and looks awesome after a bit of cleaning. Its a large set-up, the gauges measure 3-3/4 inches in diameter and 1-3/4 inches deep. The glass lenses are thick and beveled and are nice with just a few edge chips on one. The entire heavy brass assembly measures over 11 inches ... moreat its longest point and weighs in at 8 pounds 10 ounces. Victor Single-stage Medium Duty Oxygen regulator, needs repair
One Victor brand. Single-stage, medium duty oxygen regulator, not fully functional. I recently bought a used torch rig. This regulator came with it. I did use a few times, but oxy was leaking out the vent hole in the front of the regulator. From discussions with my LWS, I found that this is a common symptom of a blown Diaphragm. This regulator should be repairable, if you know what you are doing. This item is being sold as-is, no returns. I will not guarantee that this is the exact problem, but I do state that to the best of my knowledge, the symptoms, I.E. oxygen leaking from the vent hole) are the only symptoms that I had noticed. As I said, I did use the regulator for several hours, until I decided to replace it. Buy at your own risk, and only if you have experience with this sort of repair. As-is, no return. Its largest badge label is from The Bastian Blessing Company which has a built in liters per minute oxygen flow that Is shown by reading a ball float gauge. Its lower red color badge in which a glass canister filter attachment screws int is from Liquid Carbonic and its red lettering reads: LIQUID medical gas division- The Liquid Carbonic Corporation- Chicago- The third component on this mechanism reads: REGO and has 1760 stamped onto its lower back mount area. The back round valve portion is stamped 2- 40. Alternatively and by outside chance. This may be a soda fountain regulator valve as the Bastian Blessing Company manufactured these as well.
