It appears to be a calibrated weight(it is exactly 10.001 pounds according to my'not-so-accurate' shipping scale) And there is a plug in the base for critical adjustment of the weight, or so I surmise. The clamp is slightly offset so that the weight. When fixed to whatever cable or rod for which it was intended, could be mounted parcentric. There is a part number on the wood case(71 6080-10) Perhaps the 10 refers to the actual weight in which case it may indicate it was interchangeable with others in a series. Overall height of the weight is about 10 inches. The case is considerably taller which could also indicate the existence of taller(heavier) weights which would have used a'generic' ... morecase. The weight is in very fine condition with a few very minor scuffs from the inside of the wood case. There is no corrosion anywhere. The vintage scales in this lot have"MADE IN ENGLAND" stamped on it on one side and the other side says"WARRANTEED ACCURATE" Hopefully. That is still true) I believe that the weights and the scales are brass. They sit on a wood stand. That could use some tlc) and it measures app. 7"x 4" The height. Including the scales is app. 3 1/2" It is complete. The box of weights comes in a box that has a tag that says:CLAY-ADAMS. INC. NEW YORK, NY" This box is app. 6 1/4" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/2" It is in good condition except that it has some glue from a previous tag and it has a name on the top in the lower left side.
