In 1753 a stockade was erected within the present borough limits of that place, now extending beyond its original site, so that we find its location to be in this town, today. The location of this fort is described as follows: On High street between Hanover and Pitt streets, opposite Lot No. one hundred and the house of the late General Lamberton ... moreoccupied a part of the ground, being in what is now the most populous part of the town. THREE CONCENTRIC BIRD BONE AWLS FROM NIGHTFIRE ISLAND SITE EX: CARROL HOWE A rare and unique set of bone artifacts from the estate of the late author Carrol B. Howe. These concentric bird bone tools were collected during the 1950's and 1960's on a portion of the John McKay ranch in Siskiyou County. California that would become known as the Nightfire Island site. The longest one measures approximately 4.4 inches long with a 0.3 inch diameter at the center and the smallest one measures approximately 3.2 inches long with a 0.2 inch diameter at the center. All show excellent patina consistent with the age and find site. These Artifacts were collected legally and are guaranteed to be 100% authentic. The Nightfire Island site is a remarkable late Holocene site that was continuously occupied from about 6.000 years before present to the late ... moreprehistoric period. Excavations of this site produced most of what we know about the late Holocene paleoenvironment and cultural patterns of the Western Great Basin.
